Point Guard
Trae Young FD - $9700 DK - $9800
Opponent -
MINProj Pts FD - 52.73 DK - 56.92
Trae went completely bananas last game, pouring in a triple-double of 30 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a loss to the Raptors. He was taking logo-distance threes and finished 11-23 from the field in his 41 minutes. The Hawks haven’t been shy about giving him major run when the games stay close and that should be the case against the Timberwolves on Monday. The Timberwolves are merely an average defensive team that runs one of the fastest paces in the league so far this season. With heavy ownership on Saturday’s slate, Young could see similar numbers on Monday considering the past performance and the matchup here. He makes for a high floor cash game play on both sites at these prices.
Brad Wanamaker FD - $4000 DK - $4300
Opponent -
SACProj Pts FD - 29.29 DK - 29.02
Wanamaker has been a solid member of the Celtics’ rotations even before the Kamba Walker injury and it stands to reason that will pick up some with the latter suffering a blow to head last game and sitting this one out. Wanamaker won’t have a ton of usage playing with the starters (assuming that’s what the Celts do) but should see minutes in the lower 30’s at least. Semi Oleleye started the second half for Walker, but Wanamaker still ran 27 minutes against Denver, dropping 14 points and four assists. Coming very cheap on both sites, he makes for an excellent plug and play punt option on Monday against the Kings and I think he sees higher ownership on this slate.
Other Thoughts
Ky Bowman (FD 4600 DK 5800) is interesting on FanDuel at sub $5K if Draymond Green sits again. The latter not playing would give more ball handling duties to the Warriors’ guards and just open up more minutes in general.
I don’t mind
Jeff Teague (FD 6100 DK 6300) against the Hawks.
And
Rajon Rondo (FD 4400 DK 5200) is interesting on FanDuel if Alex Caruso is out again.
Shooting Guard
Deandre Bembry FD - $4600 DK - $5300
Opponent -
MINProj Pts FD - 30.17 DK - 29.27
Bombay has started the last couple of games in place of Cam Reddish and I think that sticks at least over the short term. The former has played well, putting up 22 and 11 points respectively, averaging five rebound and five assists per game while also chipping in some defensive stats. He isn’t going to see all that much usage if sharing the court with Trae Young and to a lesser extent Jabari Parker, but the minutes are solid and he contributes enough across the stat line to consider on FanDuel especially. Like I said with Young above, this is a pace up matchup for the Hawks and they have a healthy 115 team total on Monday.
Spencer Dinwiddie FD - $7800 DK - $7600
Opponent -
CLEProj Pts FD - 44.49 DK - 45.76
With Kyrie Irving on the shelf, Dinwiddie has become the man in Brooklyn. The Nets have won three in a row and four of their last five since Irving went down and a big reason is Dinwiddie’s performance. He’s averaging 25 points and six assists over the last five, playing about 35 minutes a game when it stays close and leading the team in usage with a little more than 16 shots per game. His price has come up considerably, rightfully so but he’s still very much a cash game option seeing as his current role is that of a high volume scoring guard. The Cavs run a slower pace, but are among the worst defensive teams in the league. In another winnable game for the Nets, expect to see a ton of Dinwiddie here.
Other Thoughts
Strongly consider
Evan Fournier (FD 5900 DK 6400) who played 34 minutes and took a team-high 23 shots (4-10 from three) with Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic out last game.
Small Forward
Jonathan Isaac FD - $7000 DK - $7900
Opponent -
DETProj Pts FD - 41.79 DK - 39.36
With the aforementioned Gordon and Vucevic out last game, Isaac looked every bit the rising star against the Pacers. He kept the Magic in the game against a much better team and finished with one of the best games of his career, going for 25 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes (foul trouble) while also throwing in four steals and two blocks. The price is up some on both sites, but I do think it stands to reason the minutes project for the mid-30’s if he can stay out of foul trouble. That would give him such a high fantasy floor considering his work on the defensive end and he is a bit mispriced because of the new opportunity.
Jaylen Brown FD - $7100 DK - $6800
Opponent -
SACProj Pts FD - 39.74 DK - 40.34
It’s not that big of a sample size (only about 100 minutes) but when the Celtics are without Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward this season, Brown has the second-highest usage on the team at 25%. He’s a candidate to play a lot of minutes in this game considering the Celtics are shorthanded and gets a good matchup against the Kings. Brown needs to knock down the threes, something he’s done well with this season, shooting 38% from beyond the arc at close to five attempts per game. But there’s some variance around his overall performance considering he is somewhat scoring dependent with his fantasy line. That being said, the nature of the Celtics’ rotations right now do have Brown as a high-floor play.
Other Thoughts
LeBron James (FD 11400 DK 11200) might end up being the pay up option tonight against the Spurs who have one of the worst defensive efficiencies in the league. It’s just that small forward is kind of loaded on FanDuel.
Power Forward
Jayson Tatum FD - $8200 DK - $6900
Opponent -
SACProj Pts FD - 43.01 DK - 43.38
I mentioned that Brown had a higher usage with Walker and Hayward off the court for the Celtics this season, but Tatum actually leads the team in that regard at 33% and would also make for a volume shooting option at power forward on Monday. He led the team with 16 shots last game after Walker went down though he struggled from three, going 0-5. He will need to knock these shots down and has done so reasonably well at 37% this season. His overall shooting is down (40%, 46% for his career) thanks in some part to his issues finishing around the rim. I do think that’s some variance though and will sort itself out over the course of the season. He’s a great DraftKings play at sub $7K.
Omari Spellman FD - $3700 DK - $4900
Opponent -
OKCProj Pts FD - 24.05 DK - 23.9
Spellman saw massive chalk ownership on Friday on FanDuel and likely would again on Monday especially if Draymond Green were to sit again. Honestly, Spellman might see big ownership regardless of Green’s status considering this position is often such a mess and getting out of it on the cheaper side isn’t usually the worst thing in the world. He played 28 minutes off the bench and put in 18 points and five rebounds. He’s not the best player in the world (understatement) but it’s hard to ignore the price at a tough position.
Other Thoughts
If Kevin Love sat again then
Larry Nance Jr. (FD 6200 DK 5700) would be a play once again if the latter started.
I don’t mind
Domantas Sabonis (FD 8900 DK 8100) against a very bad Memphis team either.
Center
Karl-Anthony Towns FD - $11600 DK - $10400
Opponent -
ATLProj Pts FD - 59.13 DK - 61.67
Towns continues to dominate on the fantasy end of things this season, averaging 26 points per game thanks to ridiculous 44% three-point shooting on more than nine attempts per game. For anyone, this is a huge number, for a 7-footer it’s just unheard of. But here we are and on Monday he gets to face an Atlanta team who’ll run some combination of Damian Jones and Alex Len at him. Good luck. The Hawks are playing the third-worst defensive efficiency in the league this season and the Timberwolves come in Monday with the highest projected team total of the slate. Towns is an option on both sites of course, but especially on DraftKings where he won’t break the bank on you.
Other Thoughts
This position is pretty thin, especially on FanDuel, after Towns.
If Rudy Gobert sits again then
Tony Bradley (FD 4000 DK 4000) becomes a must play at center. I just don’t know if we will have this news prior to lineup lock considering this game starts at 8PM EST.
I don’t mind
Jakob Poeltl (FD 3900 DK 4800) on FanDuel who will probably play solid minutes (if he can stay out of foul trouble) against the ultra-big Lakers. He’s mostly a price play who doesn’t have a tremendously high floor.
If
Hassan Whiteside (FD 8100 DK 6100) is back then he makes a fantastic DraftKings value in the low $6K range. As of this writing he was listed probable and I think he’ll play.

wouldn't it be nice to see a hockey write up every day like basketball...no matter what the schedule looks like, you have a BB write up. But 13 games in hockey= nothing from you.
