We already highlighted Cole Hamels and David Price in our 5/17/18 picks article. We also highlighted the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners as a popular game stacks at their respective team price points. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations.

Opponent - DET (Matthew Boyd) Park - DET

If you have been looking at the projections and lineup optimizer early this morning you probably see Marco Gonzales showing up quite a bit. This is what we are dealing with today people! First of all, he comes at a huge discount on both sites but is better suited as an SP2 on DraftKings to help fit in pretty much any bats you want to load up on tonight. It's not that he has been terrible but he hasn't been great either allowing four earned runs in each of his last two starts and now sits with 5.31 ERA on the season but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Positive regression could very well be on its way for Gonzales as he sits with an xFIP(3.08) that is close to 2.5 runs lower than the ERA and he is also getting pretty unlucky running a BABIP of .405 which is pretty much unsustainable moving forward. To try and make you feel a little better about this pick consider the lineup that he will be facing. The Tigers lineup wasn't that pretty to begin with this season(sorry Tiger fans) and is now without future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera and his teammate Jeimer Candelario who is off to a very solid start. You don't totally have to be comfortable tonight, you just have to click submit. Good luck friends!

There are a ton of good offensive spots tonight and this is one of them that may go overlooked. First of all, they are cheap which allows you to go ahead and get a combination of Trout, Betts, Blackmon, etc.. into the same lineup. The matchup may not look intriguing as Aaron Sanchez is supposed to be the Blue Jays ace but that just hasn't been the case this season. He is walking nearly four batters per nine and striking out just over six per nine but the biggest issue has been his struggles against left-handed batters. He has faced nearly the same of batters from both sides but is giving up a .395 wOBA against lefties with a terrible .69 K/BB ratio and a .276 wOBA against righties with a 2.33 K/BB ratio. Whoa!
There are a few different ways to go with Oakland who sit as a Top 10 team when looking at runs scored(195) and I already mentioned Marcus Semien who leads things off at the top of the lineup. Up next is Matt Joyce who has been routinely hitting second and while he has been pretty bad all season, has provided some power lately with three home runs in his last five starts. Jed Lowrie has been a consistent bat in the lineup all season slashing .325/.385/.550 and sits second to Khris Davis with nine home runs and is tied with hi with 36 RBI. Davis has struggled with consistency this season hitting just .214 but like I mentioned leads the team with 12 home runs and today gets an upgrade in park factor going into Toronto. Matt Olson is also a player that is not going to be labeled consistent but provides a ton of salary relief and has a home run in two of his last three games.
San Francisco Giants vs. Chad Bettis(COL)

Sticking with another California team as my second stack of the article. The first thing to note here is that Chad Bettis has been much better on the road, away from Coors, and has done a pretty good job of limiting power but that could change tonight as the wind at AT&T Park is currently blowing straight out to center at around 18 mph and surprisingly, the park ranks top 5 in run scoring early in the season. Like the A's, the Giants also provide some salary relief allowing you to load up on the big bats on other teams. It starts with Gregor Blanco who is very cheap on both sites and while he doesn't really stand out in any one area, he has been consistent with hits in four straight and seven of his last eight games. Speaking of consistent, Andrew McCutchen, hitting out of the two-hole comes in hot with hits in 14 of his last 15 games and despite a lack of power leads the team with 26 runs scored this season. Brandon Belt has been the source of power for the Giants as he leads the team with nine home runs and 23 RBI while slashing .301/.405/.562 on the season. If you are stacking Giants, there is also no way you can leave out perennial All-Star Buster Posey who has also been very consistent this season slashing .310/.375/.434 and comes in with hits in five straight and 15 of his last 17 games.
