Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action here at DFSR. Today, we have a nice eight-game slate on tap for us with only one team(VAN) playing in a back-to-back so almost everyone should be well rested and ready to go. Let's get this party started, my friends.
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 15.31 DK - 3.83
Bobby Lou is right on track with daylight savings time as the 38-year-old has turned the clock back lately. The veteran is 7-1-1 with a stifling .935 save % in his last nine games and he is 10-2-1 while playing in Florida this season. The Senators are ranked 25th defensively, the Panthers are scorching hot right now as they haven't lost in regulation in nine games and they are listed as massive -225 favorites. With all of these things considered, Luongo is an elite play in all formats.
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 15.34 DK - 3.83
Goalie Bob hasn't had the greatest season but he's improved his game lately as he's won four of his last five and he is a solid 16-9-2 to go along with a .929 save % and a 2.15 GAA on home-ice this season where he has recorded all four of his shutouts. The Habs are ranked 29th offensively and Bobrovsky has already faced them twice as he allowed only three goals to go along with an unreal .946 save % and a 1-1 record. The Jackets are listed as -200 favorites, so lock and load the Russian tender in all formats.
Also Consider: Jonathan Quick(LA)
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 17.38 DK - 5.02
The Panthers are on a rampage as they are 8-0-1 in their last nine games to go along with an insane 37 goals during that span so we need exposure to their offense today against the Sens and their awful 30th ranked defense. This young man centers the #2 line and he joins some very talented players on the #1 powerplay unit and he has two goals, three assists, and 11 shots in his last three games. Trochek has already exceeded his career highs in both goals(26) and points(62) in only 66 games played. Also, the young star averages 3.5 shots per game which gives him an elite floor so all things considered, he is a terrific play and my top center in all formats.
Stack with: Jonathan Huberdeau, Alexsander Barkov(PP)
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 16.47 DK - 4.72
This veteran workhorse just keeps chugging along as he has four assists, seven shots, and five blocks in his last three games which gives him an impressive 74 points, 166 shots, and 57 blocks in 67 games this season. The Canucks are ranked 29th in total defense and they are playing in Arizona as I write this, so all things considered, Kopitar is a solid play in all formats.
Stack with: Dustin Brown, Aaron Iafallo
Opponent - VEG
Proj Pts FD - 10.74 DK - 3.08
The rookie is slowly finding his groove for the Flyers and he's been decent lately as he has three assists and four shots during his current three-game point streak. Patrick's 1.58 shot per game average is poor for cash games but he has some upside as he plays on the #2 line and the #2 powerplay for the Flyers. While Vegas owns the eighth-ranked defense, there is very little value overall today making the youngster a decent GPP play.
Stack with: Jakub Voracek, Oskar Lindblom
Also Consider: Joe Pavelski(SJ) Kyle Brodziak(STL) Punt play
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 15 DK - 4.29
The bread man is one of the hottest players in the league as he has points in 10 of his last 11 games to go along with three goals, four assists, and 13 shots in his last four. His upside is through the roof against the Habs and their 29th-ranked road defense and he averages just under three shots per game which gives him a solid floor making Panarin a great play in all formats this evening.
Stack with: Cam Atkinson, Pierre-Luc Dubois
Opponent - STL
Proj Pts FD - 14.19 DK - 4.08
Along with Panarin, this young sniper is another of the hottest players in the league as he has eight goals, three assists, and a whopping 26 shots during his current six-game point streak. Also, he has 30 goals and 59 points in 64 games and although the Blues own the ninth-ranked road defense, Rakell scored two goals against a very tough Nashville defense two games ago. I'm willing to live with the tough matchup today as he has been shooting the puck from every direction lately, so Rakell is one of my favorite wingers in all formats.
Stack with: Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 9.36 DK - 2.78
We know when the slate isn't loaded with the greatest options when a Ranger forward appears here, but they have been scoring a few goals lately and the tiny speedster has two goals on 10 shots in his last two games while skating on the #2 line and the #1 powerplay unit. Zuccarello doesn't normally shoot the puck often as he fires well below two shots on goal per game, so he is not a great cash game option, but where he is a solid play is in GPP formats against the Hurricanes and their 20th ranked offense.
Stack with: Kevin Hayes, Ryan Spooner
Also Consider: Patrick Laine, Evgenii Dadonov
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 14.38 DK - 4.23
The offensively gifted point man has been on a tear recently as he has three goals, two assists, 11 shots, and three blocks in his last two games. Also, he has as much upside as any defenseman in the league with 46 points in 69 games and he offers an elite floor as he averages a whopping 3.35 shots per game to go along with 1.5 blocks per game. The Canadiens are playing some of their younger players as they're out of the playoff race so lock and load Jones in all formats.
Opponent - CBJ
Proj Pts FD - 5.29 DK - 1.56
This is the third time in a row that this raw youngster has appeared here for me and he will remain here as long as he keeps producing at these near minimum prices on both sites. Reilly has five assists in as many games to go along with nine shots and he has averaged at least 21 minutes of ice-time in four of those five games, so fire him up in all formats and spend elsewhere.
Also Consider: Brent Burns(SJ) Marc Edouard Vlasic(SJ) Jake Muzzin(LA)

I like Frankie Vatrano for some value tomorrow FLA W 3700...kid is talented also. Thanks for the write up, Ryan. Great work!
Ryan and Chris are both amazing assets! Thanks to both of you. A tip of my cap to a few lines from Ryan this morning that I enjoyed. First, referring to to Panarin as “the bread man”—hadn’t heard that one before and that is likely because I am very new to the NHL. Second, I loved the opening about Luongo, “Bobby Lou is right on track with daylight savings time as the 38-year-old has turned back the clock lately”. Love it! Thanks for what you guys do!
Ryan crushed it with the Booby Lou reference. Loved that as well. Thanks to both of you for reading.
Here is the NHL sheet for today:
