Hockey Picks Daily Fantasy Expert Advice
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/10/17
Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action here at DFSR. Today, we have a small-four game slate on tap with only three teams(Buf, Chi, Min) not playing in a back-to-back which makes things very interesting and three of the bottom five ranked defenses are in action this evening. I love this slate today, so let's take a look at some of my favorite picks.
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

GOALIE
Corey Crawford FD - $8600 DK - $8400
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 13.55 DK - 3.39
After sitting out a few games due to an injury, the veteran tender stopped 26 of 28 shots against Buffalo to snap a five-game losing streak for the Hawks. Crawford has another easy matchup tonight against the Coyotes and their second-worst offense who score only 2.35 goals per game and Chicago are currently listed as massive -255 favorites. He is easily my top goalie this evening and an elite play in all formats.
Also Consider: Whoever St. Louis puts between the pipes against Buffalo's 31st ranked offense(2.14 goals per game).
CENTERS
Brayden Schenn FD - $7200 DK - $6700
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 7.79 DK - 2.37
We have a few bad defenses to pick on this evening and the Blues welcome the Sabres and their fifth-worst defense(3.38 goals per game) to town this evening. The former Brandon Wheat King is having one heck of a breakout season in his first year with the Blues as he's third among centers with 15 goals and fourth with 21 assists and he plays on the #2 line and the deadly #1 powerplay unit. He has also been on fire in his last three games with five goals, an assist, and 10 shots on goal, so lock and load Schenn in all formats.
Stack with: Alex Steen, Jaden Schwartz
Nazem Kadri FD - $6000 DK - $6100
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 10.22 DK - 3
The Leafs are a tough team to use in GPP's because you just don't know what Coach Babcock is going to do with his players and their ice time each night. For cash games, look no further than Nazem Kadri who's playing time remains consistent and he has a whopping 10 shots in his last two games and 13 goals and 10 assists in his first 29 games. The veteran center plays on the #1 powerplay unit where he loves shooting the puck even more for the Leafs, so he is a solid play for your cash game lineups against the Oilers and their third-worst defense.
Stack with: Patrick Marleau, Mitch Marner(PP), James VanRiemsdyk(PP)
Also Consider: Connor McDavid (EDM)
WINGERS
Vladimir Tarasenko FD - $8100 DK - $7800
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 15.25 DK - 4.48
This is a perfect situation to mention two Blues' forwards because Schenn and Tarasenko have been playing on separate lines, but they both play on the #1 powerplay unit. The Russian superstar has a goal, an assist, and six shots in his last two games and 31 points in 30 games, and he has an impressive 125 shots which is third-best among wingers. Tarasenko and company should walk all over the Sabres tonight and I like using both Tarasenko and Schenn in my cash game lineups and stacking each of them with their linemates in GPP's. Do not fade this guy this evening.
Stack with: Paul Stastny, Vladimir Sobotka
Alex Debrincat FD - $5600 DK - $5200
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 9.95 DK - 2.82
Chris asked me last week why this young winger is still playing on the third line for the Hawks. Well, someone heard him as he was moved up to the top line last game and he came through with a powerplay goal on his only shot, but man, this guy can snipe goals with the best of them and the Coyotes own the league's worst defense as they allow a staggering 3.52 goals per game. At these prices, and with the easy matchup, we can strongly consider Debrincat in all formats.
Stack with: Jonathan Toews, Brandon Saad
Also Consider: Patrick Kane (CHI)
DEFENSEMEN
Kris Russell FD - $3900 DK - $3900
Opponent - TOR
Proj Pts FD - 8.97 DK - 2.76
This guy takes the term "take one for the team" to heart, well he actually took seven for the team last night as he recorded an assist and seven blocks as the Oilers just destroyed the Habs as I'm writing this. Before Saturday's game, the tough point man was second in the league with 78 blocks and he had a goal, two assists, and seven shots in his last three games and a massive 22 blocks in his last four. Russell is simply way too cheap and this is a bold statement, but he's my favorite defensemen in all formats regardless of salary, as he has been showing up on the scoresheet on a regular basis lately.
Gustav Forsling FD - $3700 DK - $3600
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 6.54 DK - 1.96
I am a big fan of this small slate today as we have some awesome value plays so that we can fit a few superstars into our lineups. Forsling had a huge game against the Sabres on Friday as he scored a goal and added a powerplay assist and a short-handed assist while firing five shots on goal. He is tough to roster in cash games as he normally doesn't shoot much nor does he block many shots, but he's a great GPP play at these cheap prices.
Also Consider: Colton Parayko (STL)
