What We Know
Anthony Davis is out against the after going down with a groin injury against the Jazz last night.
Davis was the top projected player in the initial run of our system last night prior to leaving the game in the fourth quarter, being helped to the locker room. Davis is set to undergo an MRI today and as anticipated he will sit out the game against the Blazers tonight. This of course adds much more appeal to Boogie Cousins, and Dante Cunningham who will likely draw the start in place of AD.
Nikola Jokic is likely to miss several games for the Nuggets, while Wilson Chandler remains questionable with back soreness.
Joker rolled his ankle against the Bulls on Thursdays night, and though the X-ray and MRI all came back negative the team expects him to be out of commission for several games. The injury plagued Nuggets may also be without Wilson Chandler who has missed two straight games with back soreness and is listed as questionable to play tonight. We covered a lot of this situation and the scenarios of who will benefit in out picks article, so you can find more detailed information there, and more on Kenneth Faried below.
Chandler Parsons is out with soreness in his knee and ankle tonight.
Parsons landed funny last night against the Spurs and will be rested tonight against the Cavaliers as a precaution. James Ennis is expected to see extra run in his place. Adding to the Grizzlies troubles is Marc Gasol being listed as questionable. If Gasol joins Parsons on the bench, Tyreke Evans becomes an elite play with a 7.7% boost in usage with Gasol, Parsons, and Mike Conley out of the game.
T.J. McConnell remains out for the Sixers.
McConnell suffered a sprained shoulder against the Wizards on Wednesday and subsequently missed the next night against Boston. The Sixers have ruled T.J. out today as they host the Pistons, which will mean more minutes for Jerryd Bayless but with Ben Simmons as the primary point guard, I would only look to Bayless as a punt in a deep GPP contest.
What We're Waiting to Know
Kyle Kuzma has been upgraded to probable for the Lakers.
Kuzma was held out of the Wednesday night game against the Warriors with back spasms and was originally listed as questionable for the Lakers game in Denver. Kuz was a full participant in practice yesterday and was upgraded to probable earlier today. If Kuzma does remain sidelined, Julius Randle becomes a solid play as he has paid 5X or better in several games at his current salary in four of his last five and faces a depleted Nuggets front court tonight.
Every Lineup Guys
Damian Lillard FD - $8800 DK - $8900
Opponent - NO
Proj Pts FD - 46.12 DK - 48.07
We wrote up Damian Lillard last night as an excellent play as his price is down across the industry. Despite the depressed cost, Lillard has plenty of opportunity to crush value as he basically run the boards for the Blazers from start to finish, averaging 37 minutes per game, and he has flashed 7X upside already this season. The Pelicans are now without Anthony Davis, and this game currently sits at a seven point spread. Over the last ten games, New Orleans has been the second easiest target when locking in point guards, surrendering nearly 55 FanDuel points to the position in that stretch. Lillard comes at a great price in a great spot and is a solid play in all formats.
Kenneth Faried FD - $5200 DK - $4800
Opponent - LAL
Proj Pts FD - 30.24 DK - 29.73
Also appearing in the top 25 lineups our system is putting out, is Denver Nuggets Kenneth Faried. When I was doing the picks last night, this was the one game that I had nothing from Vegas to go on with point projections, but now we know it sits at the top of the heap with an appealing 222.5 total and just a 4.5 point spread. This is an excellent game to target from both sides in tournaments, as the Nuggets are dealing with several injuries, and there is plenty of value to be had. Faried for example has benefitted from the loss of Paul Millsap, and now will see added usage with no Nikola Jokic. He'll be paired with a Lakers front court allowing opposing PF's to jam the stat sheet till it bursts with 22.6 points, 17 rebounds, and and 5.6 assists per game allowed in the past five contests. I wouldn't be surprised to see Faried eclipse the thirty minute mark tonight and if he does that, he should more than crush value. Even if he doesn't get to the thirty mark he's a lock for cash formats, but I'll have him in GPP's as well banking on that half hour or better.
