It's nice to get some early clarification on at least 1 piece of news. Kemba is obviously the number 1 option on this offense and the ball is in his hands in every possession. Michael-Carter Williams will draw the start and likely grab at least 30-35 minutes. He's an elite value option in both cash games and tournaments. We should also see the ball in the hands of Batum, Lamb, and Howard more. They all see slight upticks against a Raptors team that isn't too scary on defense. Kemba is a monstrous chunk of this offense and it makes everyone else underpriced.
This definitely clears things up, which is nice. But it would have also been nice to get some value with these 2 out. I guess not. They face off with the Lakers and this news really just drives me away from the game as a whole. A blowout is the likeliest of possibilities and I doubt they will want to stretch out Curry+Durant off of injury or Klay+Dray, who've been making up for the missing pieces. It lessens my exposure to Larry Nance and now have 0 interest in Lonzo. Tournament shots are always fine in a game with the Warriors, but I don't think it stays close and doesn't see much value with all the stars out there.
This is obviously out of left field, and we already have a ton of news to decipher through on this slate, so we have to make sure to not overlook this. Whiteside is a pivotal piece of the Heat team and his absence will be a domino effect. Bam Adebayo will draw the start against a Knicks team that lacks paint defense. James Johnson and Kelly Olynyk will also pick up 10-13 minutes each. Along with the bigs, Dragic, Waiters, and Richardson will all see a few more shots. Whiteside is a good player, however, and he doesn't shoot a ton, so it might be a negative for the team performance overall. I like Dragic in cash games and Waiters in tournaments, but neither are musts with so many options.
Simmons was questionable going into last game against the Cavs and just picked up another injury. He missed 2 games ago against the Magic, so at least we have an idea of what to expect. If Simmons is out, T.J. McConnell benefits the most. He will get 34-38 minutes at point guard and have the ball in his hands each possession. With Embiid, we also know what to expect. If he's out, Richaun Holmes will likely get the start and Dario Saric will jump into a fantastic cash game play He is trusted by the Sixers and does perform when given the opportunity. If both of these guys miss, there is going to be a ton of usage to go around for everyone in the starting lineup. Make sure you get exposure.
'Dipo played last game and obviously didn't feel 100%, so he's now a GTD. If he does play, I won't have much interest in the Pacers backcourt. It's pretty crowded and it's tough to trust Oladipo with his current soreness. If Oladpio happens to sit, you have to have some interest against a fast-paced Rockets squad. Lance Stephenson and Darren Collison would both see considerable bumps. Myles Turner wouldn't see a bump in minutes, but will see some more shots and usage. Oladipo takes a lot of shots and there will be plenty of them up for grabs.
I doubt we get clarification here until close to tip, but at least it's clear what to do. If Teague is out, play Tyus Jones. If Teague plays, I'll be avoiding the situation, but everyone is in play in tournaments against the Wizards.
With Conley out for the foreseeable future, Chalmers is a guy we could have interest in tonight. If he's fully cleared, you can do worse. If he misses, Andrew Harrison should get forced into 34+ minutes at an extremely cheap price. Tyreke Evans could also pick up some substantial minutes at PG and improve on his already dominance. As for Parsons, he doesn't play huge minutes, by makes an impact. If he is out, bump up Evans and Brooks. Against a slow Spurs squad, nobody here is necessary for cash games.
All signs are pointing towards Rondae Hollis-Jefferson missing this game. If he does play, I think you ignore a cluttered situation in a slow game. If he's out, you can take a flier on a Trevor Booker, but it's still a slow game. The Mavs do struggle against PF's and if given the minutes, is a guarantee to produce. You just don't know if he will see 20 or 30, whether RHJ plays or not. You can probably find a more comfortable position to take.
