Hello my fellow hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action here at DFSR. Today, we have a tiny three-game slate in store for us, but it is definitely not short of excitement, so let's get started with some picks shall we?
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 17.64 DK - 4.41
This is a tough slate with only three games, so we have to play with the cards that we have been dealt with. There is no such thing as "safety" involved with today's picks, so let's start with Gibson who hasn't been great lately as he has given up nine goals in his last three games, but he stopped 35 of 37 shots that came his way in his last game in a tough loss against a very powerful Lightning squad. The Bruins are ranked 22nd in offense with only 2.75 goals scored per game, so he looks like our best option today for our GPP lineups.
Also Consider: Corey Crawford(CHI)
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 15.07 DK - 4.27
Like I said above, this is a tough slate for safety, so let's keep focusing on some core GPP plays. Monahan had only two shots on goal last game, but he was on a six-game point streak before that as he recorded three goals to go along with five assists and even though Detroit is solid defensively, this young man and his linemates seem to be firing on cylinders, so starting your lineups with him feels like a good choice today.
Stack with: Johnny Gaudreau, Michael Ferland
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 12.72 DK - 3.65
This young man has been given the task of centering Anaheim's top line since the news that Ryan Getzlaf will be out for a few months. He seems to be getting used to his role as he has a goal and six assists in his last five games and the Bruins have given up 12 goals in their last four games. Rakell seems to be clicking with is current linemates and at these reasonable prices, he makes for a solid play today for your GPP lineups.
Stack with: Corey Perry, Jakob Silfverberg (PP)
Also Consider: Dylan Larkin(DET)
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 16.86 DK - 4.83
It doesn't seem to matter who this guy plays with, what does matter is the fact that he seems to collect points no matter what. The star American winger has a goal and two assists to go along with nine shots on goal in his last two games and the Rangers rank 24th in defense allowing 3.22 goals per game so he looks like he has a high ceiling this evening. Fire him up in your tourney lineups.
Stack with: Nick Schmaltz, Artem Anisimov
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 9.84 DK - 2.86
I think that we may have a future star in the making here with this young man. The Rangers seem to think so as he plays on the #1 line and the #1 PP unit and he is on a three-game point streak with three goals, two assists and a whopping 11 shots on goal. The BlackHawks allowed six goals in their last game, so this could be a high scoring affair this evening. Lock and load Buchnevich for your tourney lineups.
Stack with: Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider
Opponent - CGY
Proj Pts FD - 10.24 DK - 2.95
The Red Wings aren't an offensive powerhouse by any means, but they are in a good spot tonight as it looks like the Flames will be without their starting goalie Mike Smith due to an injury. Mantha offers us with some value today on both sites and two games ago he scored a goal to go along with two assists. Mantha is a good player in a juicy spot so find room for him in a few of your GPP lineups.
Stack with: Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist
Also Consider: Jakob Silfverberg(ANH)
DEFENSEMEN
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 10.37 DK - 3.1
Even though this guy hasn't scored a goal this season, he has collected 12 assists and he is on an impressive four-game point streak with six assists to go along with six shots and 12 blocks. He has been seeing a decent amount of time on the second PP unit for the Rangers and this could be the game that he pots his first goal of the year. Lock him and load him today.
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 10.69 DK - 3.2
Even in GPP lineups, we need to look for value and this guy offers that as he plays on the #1 PP unit for the Ducks and he has a goal, an assist, 11 shots and four blocks in his last three games. The Bruins aren't a great defensive team and the Ducks could score a few goals today, so you look for Montour to be a part of the action.
Also Consider: Hampus Lindholm(ANH)
