GOALIE
Corey Crawford FD - $8900 DK - $8200
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 17.8 DK - 4.45
Crawford and the Hawks are off to a great start with a 3-0-1 record while outscoring their opponents by a score of 21-7 in those four games. The veteran netminder has been lights out with a .971 save % and has allowed only one goal in each of his three starts. Tonight he faces a Minnesota Wild team that got the short end of the straw having to start the season on a three-game road trip and have yet to pick up a victory. Crawford looks extremely dialed in at the moment and making him my favorite goalie in cash game formats.
Jimmy Howard FD - $7900 DK - $7400
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 14.48 DK - 3.62
We have our cash game goalie picked out. Now we need a lower owned GPP option who happens to be having a great start as well and he is facing a weak opponent in the Arizona Coyotes. The veteran Howard has stopped 77 of 80 shots en route to two victories in as many starts so far this season. He is certainly showing Detroit it was a good idea to protect him in the Las Vegas expansion draft earlier this year. This is his crease in Detroit again and I love his matchup this evening against an offensively punchless Coyotes squad who is averaging just over 2.3 goals per game to start the season. The Red Wings are slight underdogs on the road making Howard a nice a pivot play for GPP formats tonight.
CENTERS
Tyler Seguin FD - $8400 DK - $7400
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 18.76 DK - 5.73
There are just certain players that I do not feel comfortable fading at certain times. Seguin is at the top of that list for me with the way he has been shooting the puck and skating up and down the ice with a vengeance to start the season. Seguin has two goals(both on the PP) and he has fired a whopping 24 shots on net in only three games while averaging 20.5 minutes of ice-time per game. The offense runs around him and he is the boss on the top line and the #1 PP unit. Seguin is currently matchup proof for me and he is an elite play in all formats.
Stack with: Jamie Benn, Alexander Radulov
Mark Scheifele FD - $7600 DK - $6800
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 18.85 DK - 5.45
Scheifele came into the league at a young age and has seen steady growth each and every season while becoming an offensive star. He has seen his point totals grow in each of the last four years and is coming off a juggernaut of a season in 2016/17 as he posted 82 points which ranked seventh among all players. The Jets are one of the worst defensive teams in the league(15 GA in three games) and will need all that Scheifele can offer just to stay in games this year. Great news as he has started the season with five points in three gameswhilel recording eight shots on goal. He is a fantasy stud and should be considered in all formats.
Stack with: Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers
Brayden Point FD - $4600 DK - $4800
Opponent - PIT
Proj Pts FD - 18.79 DK - 5.22
I love the Lightning's top line that involves Kucherov and Stamkos, but everyone and their ancestors know about them. I'm here to present to you Brayden Point, who centers the second line and the #2 PP unit for Tampa Bay. This young man is apart of Tampa's future and he scored nine goals in his last 15 games for the Lightning last season. Well, he has obviously carried that over into this year as he is on absolute fire with three goals, (1 PP) four assists and seven shots in only three games while averaging 19 minutes of ice-time per game. He is still way to cheap on both sites for this kind of production and he will be in 100% of my cash game lineups. Stacking him with his line-mates is also a good way to get separation in large tourneys.
Stack with: Ondrej Palat, Yanni Gourde, Tyler Johnson (PP)
WINGERS
Evander Kane FD - $6000 DK - $6300
Opponent - SJ
Proj Pts FD - 29.09 DK - 8.29
Kane is another player that is matchup proof and practically unfadeable at this point in the season. He isn't going to average two points per game and regression in that area is definitely going to hit but what gives him elite status in all formats, especially cash games, is his shot volume. Through three games he has already tallied 26 shots on goal which not only leads his team but the entire league. He benefits greatly from skating alongside up and coming star Jack Eichel and veteran Jason Pominville as they try to lead the Sabre back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010/11 season.
Stack with: Jack Eichel, Jason Pominville
Brandon Saad FD - $6700 DK - $6700
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 19.69 DK - 5.54
Saad started his career with the Blackhawks and after posting a career-high 52 points in 2014-15, he was traded to the Blue Jackets. After posting back to back 53 point seasons with Columbus and helping them to a 108 points last year, he traded back to Chicago and picked up right where he left off. He has shown excellent chemistry with Jonathan Toews and has already recorded seven points in four games with 17 shots on goal. The price is getting up there but Saad is still in play in all formats.
Stack with: Jonathan Toews, Richard Panik, Patrick Kane (PP)
Bryan Rust FD - $4200 DK - $5100
Opponent - TB
Proj Pts FD - 9.39 DK - 2.54
Before you want to throw something at me, please hear me out. We need value so that we can fit some studs into our lineups and the Penguins recently promoted Rusty to skate with (I'm not sure if you've heard of this guy) Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh is playing in back-to-back games after a huge statement win in Washington last night, but Rust is way too cheap right now skating with Crosby. In the two games since his promotion, he has three assists with six shots on goal and has notched a helper last night while skating on the #2 PP unit.
Stack with: Sydney Crosby, Jake Guentzel
Also Consider: Jaden Schwartz, (Stl) Vladimir Sobotka (Stl)
DEFENSEMEN
John Klingberg FD - $5800 DK - $5600
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 16.43 DK - 5.05
Ok, so let me see here. We have the powerplay QB who gets to toss the puck around with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn? Sign me up baby! Klingberg already has two goals, (1 PP) two assists, 11 shots and five blocks in only three games so far. He has averaged 25 minutes of ice-time in those three games and I love him in all formats today.
Joel Edmundson FD - $3800 DK - $3500
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 11.71 DK - 3.48
Value is very important and this guy gives us just that. He doesn't carry much upside, but from a PTS/$ perspective, he offers a very safe floor with the amount of shots he blocks. In four games, he has a goal, eight shots, and a whopping 14 blocks while averaging around 20 minutes of ice-time. Edmundson is a great cash game play this evening.
Also Consider: Jacob Trouba (Wpg)
