Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week  - 9/17/17

The chalk pretty much failed all around in week one and if you took a quick peek at the Top 10 fantasy players(via FantasyPros), you would probably just shake your head. I mean, Kareem Hunt and Alex Smith top the list and while we see a familiar face in Antonio Brown in the three spot, he is followed by the Jags and Rams defense, Stefon Diggs, Matt Stafford, Tyreke Hill, Sam Bradford, Tarik Cohen, and the Ravens defense. The point of listing those is so that we understand the importance of not overreacting to one week and letting it affect your process. With that said, let's dive right into the top stacking options for Week #2.

Atlanta Falcons

Quarterback - Matt Ryan
Primary Option - Julio Jones
Correlation Option - Jordy Nelson

This stack was a bust last week as the Falcons only ran a total of 55 plays with Matt Ryan attempting just 30 passes but I am back on the train in week 2 in a much better matchup. As you can see above, I used the DFSR player Lab and set just two filters(High Vegas O/U & Thin Spread) to break the field down to two quarterbacks. What I like most about this is the fact they are playing each other this week. Only the Patriots/Saints game has a higher total but this game has the highest total of any game with less than a 3.5 point spread for either team. That is very important when stacking as close games with high totals forces both teams to keep throwing and more throws equal more opportunities to get fantasy points for your QB/WR combo. Julio is by far my top option to pair with Matt Ryan as he gets one of the best matchups of the week going up against the Packers secondary. I also list Jordy Nelson as a correlation play strictly due to the filters I am using above. The gameflow is projected to be high-scoring with both quarterbacks throwing a ton so I want a piece of Nelson with my Julio/Ryan stacks and vice versa, I want Julio with some of my Rodgers/Nelson stacks. Both teams will be chalky but the added correlation of the opposing WR helps you some separation in tournaments.

New England Patriots

Quarterback - Tom Brady
Primary Option - Brandin Cooks, Rob Gronkowski
Secondary Option - Chris Hogan

Up next we have the GOAT who stumbled a bit out of the gate in last Thursday's season opener. He completed just 44% of passes for 267 yards and zero touchdowns. The Pats were man handled and obviously not ready for the Chiefs defense but Week Two is shaping up to be a completely different story. It starts with the matchup vs. the Saints who not only ranked 30th in DVOA defense in 2016 allowing 273.8 yards per game but also just got walked on by Sam Bradford who threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns.

Danny Amendola went for 100 yards last week but I leave him off my list this week as he is dealing with a concussion and was absent from practice on Thursday. My top target from a big game standpoint is newly acquired, Brandin Cooks who saw seven targets in Week One but caught just three of them for 88 yards.  I also like Rob Gronkowski as a rebound candidate for Week Two, especially if Amendola is ruled out as he would get more dump passes over the middle. The Patriots will be a team where I create multiple stacks with a ton of combinations and for value and possibly lower ownership, I will be looking at Chris Hogan who doesn't get a ton of targets but only needs one or two completions as he is prone to the big play.

Los Angeles Rams

Quarterback - Jared Goff
Primary Option - Cooper Kupp
Secondary Option - Todd Gurley

As you can see above, I left out the "High Vegas Total" filter in search of some GPP value pivots that allow us to load up with star players at other positions. Those filters returned three quarterbacks this week and my favorite to stack this week might surprise you. After a rookie season where Goff only exceeded the 200-yard mark twice in seven starts, he filed away his first 300+ yard game in week one completing 21 of just 29 pass attempts. Yes, it was the Colts defense without Vontae Davis but the upgraded weapons proved to be a huge boost as Kupp, Woods, and Watkins all went for 50+ yards. It was Kupp leading the way and showing the chemistry we heard about in the preseason and if you watch Good Morning Football you have definitely heard Peter Schrager rave about Kupp. If not check it out.

All in good fun but on a serious note the kid can ball and plays out of the slot and will likely avoid the coverage of Josh Norman. The game does have a lower over/under(46) but could easily turn into a shootout with the Kirk Cousins and the Redskins helping Goff get to his ceiling of around 40 pass attempts. On DraftKings, stacking Kupp and Goff together costs under $10k and allows you to stack two or three elite players at other positions. The correlation for QB/RB is obviously lower than QB/WR but Goff/Gurley is one I will consider, especially after he received six targets in week one, catching five of them for 56 yards.
