With Scherzer likely being the chalk tonight, Kluber makes an excellent pivot in GPP's. The only difference here is that Scherzer faces a much worse Padres team while Kluber faces a Royals team that has been better than their season numbers lately ranking inside the top 10 in offense over the past month. Both Scherzer and Kluber are CY Young candidates in their respective leagues and have very similar stats across the board. Scherzer has the edge in ERA, Kluber has the edge in xFIP. They both have 12.4 K/9 rates and right around 16% swinging strike rates. I will have exposure to both but like I said if you are looking for some separation in GPP ownership pivot to Kluber in some of your lineups.

I understand if you are hesitant to spend all the way down for Matt Moore as an SP2 in cash games. I mean, it's strictly a price and matchup play but for a little more safety you can hit the $8K range and roll with Zack Godley. In his first stint as a full-time starter, Godley has been very impressive with a 2.95 ERA, 3.33 xFIP, and has elevated his K rate by almost two full strikeouts per nine from last season. Even during his two-game blip on the radar where he allowed 10 earned runs combined he still struck out 19 batters to salvage his fantasy day. Other than those two starts, he has held opponents to three or fewer earned runs in the other 15 starts this season with 11 quality starts(FanDuel).
