Early Slate

Mike Fiers FD 7400 DK 7500

Sp2 on DraftKings is a little tricky, to say the least, this afternoon. For me, I will be playing GPP only on this slate on DraftKings and will take my chances with the struggling Mike Fiers. He has allowed four or more earned runs in three straight games and struck out more than two just once in that time. If he can get the walks under control I think he is a candidate to bounce back today even though the matchup is a tough one vs. the Diamondbacks. He has strikeout upside (8.72 K/9) and the Diamondbacks have been ice cold lately with an 82 wRC+ and 26.7% strikeout rate over the last 14 days. I don't love it but his mid $7K price tag allows us to pay up for Archer and still get some upside bats in our lineup.

Main Slate

Jeff Samardzija FD 8900 DK 9300
Opponent - PHI (Nola) Park - @SF
FD - 36.85 DK - 19.65

It's the same story on the five-game main slate tonight as the pitching options are limited with a couple high priced options(Severino, Nola), especially on DraftKings. Shark's price has gone back up in the $9K range on both sites but he can still be considered a top play on both sites tonight. Despite a few blow-ups along the way(what pitcher hasn't) he has been consistent this season with a 3.36 xFIP and has also shown some upside with a 9.25 K/9 rate. The big issue most days is that the win potential is down due to the Giants offense sucking this season. I like that matchup tonight despite writing up Rhys Hoskins in the main article. The Phillies are one team that has actually scored fewer runs than the Giants and they also strike out 23.5% of the time vs. right-handed pitching. Again, I don't love it but he is almost necessary if you want to get some upside bats in your lineup(ie. Aaron "I am not human" Judge).
