Pitchers

Early Slate

Dan Straily FD 8600 DK 9200
Opponent - PHI (Pivetta) Park - @MIA
FD - 36.39 DK - 23.92

There are some nice secondary options in the mid-range today but I lean Straily who has the huge advantage when looking at the early Vegas odds as he and the Marlins are sitting at -195 at the moment. I also like Charlie Morton but feel he gets a bit of a downgrade today facing a red-hot Mariners team that that doesn't strike out a whole lot to begin with. Straily hasn't shown a lot of strikeout upside himself lately but has been very solid holding opponents to three or less earned runs in six straight and 12 of his last 13 starts. His xFIP(4.56) that sits over a run worse than his ERA(3.32) suggests there is some regression coming but chances are it won't be tonight. He gets a plus matchup vs. the Phillies who rank 29th in wOBA(.300), 29th in wRC+(82), and 25th in K rate(23.7%) vs. right-handed pitching.

Also Consider: Jacob Faria (TB)

Main Slate

Kenta Maeda FD 8100 DK 7800
Opponent - CHW (Rodon) Park - @CHW
FD - 30.08 DK - 19.92

On the main slate, I will be turning to Maeda as my SP2 on DraftKings and as a GPP pivot on FanDuel.  He and the Dodgers are currently the biggest favorites(-170) on the slate as they look to extend their 10 game win streak in the second game of the series vs. the White Sox. Facing the White Sox, Maeda also gets the best matchup of the slate and possibly the entire day as they have been right near the bottom of the league in hitting vs. right-handed pitching(.305 wOBA, 88 wRC+, 22.4% K rate). The concern with Maeda is always the pitch count and whether he will get deep enough into the game to pickup the win(or Quality Start on FanDuel). He does strike out around one batter per inning and comes into tonight with an elite 13.6% swinging strike rate which gives him a ton of upside neutralizing the risk.

Also Consider: Gerrit Cole(PIT)
