There's really only three pitchers we like tonight and since we talked about Kershaw and Peacock in the cash game picks, that leaves Ray to anchor us here. The spot isn't great -- playing pitchers in the Smallpark rarely is. But Ray is maybe the only guy on the slate who has proven he can keep pace with the Kershaws of the world when he's on his game. The problem, of course, is that when he's not, he hands out free passes like he's soliciting for the county circus. To wit: his 11.97 Ks/9 rank fourth best in baseball, while his 4.42 BBs/9 rank fifth worst. In better news, the development of a curveball has helped solve his monstrous BABIP issues, and the Reds are below average against lefties. Maybe that's not a full-throated endorsement, but he probably doesn't quite deserve one. He's worth some exposure, though, if you're playing multiple lineups.

Ok, this one is a pure SP2 play. If you must veer away from the top three guys on a one-pitcher site, you're probably better off going with somebody who can strike guys out (I dunno, Mike Clevinger or Blake Snell maybe?) -- or just hit me on Twitter and I'll give you my mailing address if you're that eager to give some money away. Having reached 6 Ks only twice since April, Nova just doesn't have the upside to put you in a winning position in a single SP format, but he can at least keep you in the mix from a supporting role. His overall numbers won't blow you away, but his 3.59 FIP since coming to Pittsburgh 11 months ago makes him a standout on this slate. And in the offense-killing confines of his home park, he's holding opponents to a .265 wOBA during that span. The Brewers aren't a bad matchup either -- they rank 16th in wRC+ vs. RHP and have the third highest K% in the split. But they're also dangerous, with a .197 ISO that ranks third in the NL.
