Toronto Blue Jays vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (BAL)

When stacking teams in GPP's, I look for a few things. First of all, I look for a team with a high implied run total but it's much more than that. The home run is king as we have learned early in the season as the league has seen a boost in power numbers. This means we also need to target against pitchers who give up hard contact and long balls. Enter Ubaldo Jimenez who has been a borderline disaster this season. His 7.26 ERA has been a huge factor in the Orioles pitching staff ranking second to last overall in the category. From a fantasy perspective, Jimenez is also a great target as he is prone to the long ball as he has given up 16 through 10 starts(22.2% HR/FB rate) including back to back games giving up multiple bombs. The Jays offense has been frustrating and inconsistent all season but they are getting healthier and have a lineup full of big bats that can clear the fence. I will be centering my stack around Justin Smoak tonight as Jimenez has been much worse vs. left-handed bats giving up a .435 wOBA and .673 slugging %. I will be surrounding him with Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson, Kendrys Morales.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Homer Bailey(CIN)

For stack #2 I turn to another struggling pitcher. This time it's Homer Bailey who is back in the big league's after surgery back in February to remove bone spurs from his elbow. he missed all of Spring Training and got destroyed in his 2017 debut last Saturday, giving up eight earned runs in just 1.2 innings while striking out just two and walking three. I do think he is a much better pitcher but it is obviously going to take some time for him to get back into a rhythm and until then we can tee off on targeting him with our stacks. Today we can lean on the Brewers who rank 10th overall in runs scored this season and more importantly rank eighth when looking at Isolated Power(.193) vs. right-handed pitching. For the most part, I will be targeting the Brewers left-handed bats in Eric Sogard, Eric Thames, and Travis Shaw as Bailey has struggled much more vs. lefties over the last couple of seasons. Ryan Braun also makes a very high-upside play hitting third in the lineup.

New York Yankees vs. James Shields (CWS)

James Shields is another excellent pitcher to target against when looking to stack a team as he is prone to a complete blow-up game. He continues to give up home runs at an alarming rate and is currently sitting with a 18.9% HR/FB rate, the third straight season over 17%. He has been even worse since returning from a two-month stint on the disabled list giving up nine earned runs in just 8.2 innings with four home runs. Things don't get any easier tonight as he will be facing a very powerful Yankees team that ranks third in overall runs scored and trails only the Astros in wOBA and wRC+ vs. right-handed pitching.  Center your stack around Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez and add in some value that should pop up with Aaron Hicks, Matt Holliday, and Starlin Castro on the disabled list.
