Pitchers

Carlos Carrasco FD 9800 DK 10900
Opponent - BAL (Gausman) Park - @BAL
FD - 31.76 DK - 21.1

We touched on Jeff Samardzija and Jose Berrios in the main picks article, who are both still in play in cash and tournaments. We're now going to touch on the most expensive pitcher on this slate, who also has the highest ceiling. If Carlos Carrasco is on his prime stuff tonight, he could go 9 innings and strikeout 10. It's extremely unlikely when you consider his recent form. Carrasco has been struggling to get first pitch strikes of late and it's hindered his pitch count, as well as his ability to pitch for the strikeout. He can right back to his game here against the Orioles, who are willing to strikeout as much as you'll let em'. They are good in terms of wOBA against righties, but have plenty of games where they score just 1 or 2 runs. Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo both K close to 30%, while Schoop and Machado lie near 27%. They also hit a ton of homers, so it weighs out over the long haul. Camden Yards is one factor working against Carrasco. This is an extreme hitter park and things could go south with ease in the match-up. In tournaments, Carrasco is definitely worth a look. If you're forcing me to play cash games, I'll take Samardzija or Berrios before Carrasco.

Rich Hill FD 7600 DK 8900
Opponent - NYM (Montero) Park - @LAD
FD - 27.42 DK - 18.12

Rich Hill was absolutely horrible last time out and it will likely keep everyone off of him. I just don't think there is anyone better. Hill is a very talented pitcher and we're paying close to $10k for him just 3 months ago. He faces off with a Mets team that is much worse against lefties, ranking 26th in all of baseball. They also move into Dodgers Stadium, which is one of the more spacious parks in the NL. You can't deny Hill and his numbers last year, so you have to wonder if we will see glimpses come back as he gets healthy. The curveball is crazy and the deception is real when the placement is on. The Mets are a lineup full of lefties, with the exception of Yoenis Cespedes and Wilmer Flores. They find ways to throw other righties in there, but they aren't very good and don't offer much damage. Michael Conforto and Jay Bruce are much worse against lefties and Hill should be able to rack up some strikeouts. All in all, nobody on this slate is safe and Hil gives you some upside at a cheap tag. In tournaments, why not?
