We touched on Chris Archer and Carlos Carrasco in the main picks article and both are still very much in play. Looking a bit later in the day, we're going to take a look at Robbie Ray and James Paxton. Robbie Ray and the D-Baks are hosting the Brewers, who have come back down to earth after starting the year on fire. They are admittedly better against lefties, but still not great. They strike out the third most of any team in the league at 26.3%. Over the past 30 days, they have the 21st best wOBA against lefties. This is a team you shouldn't be scared of targeting as they can rack up strikeouts and be shut down with ease. Robbie Ray has been nothing short of incredible. He's holding lefties to a .233 wOBA and righties to a respective .272. He's not getting lucky, either, holding a .370 BABIP against left-handers. Ray is striking out almost 14 lefties per 9 and nearly 11 righties. He's been simply great. The only negative we're looking at is the ballpark. Chase Field is a huge hitters park and it can trouble some of the best pitchers in the game. Still, he has more than enough upside and if you want to move away from the chalk, you can't get much better.

It all comes down to pitch count for Paxton. Like Ray, he has made a name for himself with pure dominance. If you remove his last start coming off the DL, he's allowed an earned run in just one of his games all season long. He's been unhittable for lefties and righties aren't having too much fun either. He's striking out over 10 per 9 innings and has gone 7 innings in most starts. However, he's recently coming off the DL and it will be interesting to see how many pitches he will be stretched for. If word comes out beforehand that he's going to be restricted to any less than 95 pitches, I would ignore him. There are too many guys on this slate who will have a good fantasy game. If Paxton is to see 95 pitches or more, he's on the same level. The Blue Jays are very average against lefties and have a tough time in the spacious Safeco Field. The return of Donaldson and Tulowitzki is clouding their team numbers, so there isn't a reason to look at those. Paxton is a great GPP play and could be used in DK in cash if no pitch count is confirmed.
