Pitchers

Early Slate

Michael Fulmer FD 9500 DK 9200
Opponent - LAA (Ramirez) Park - @DET
FD - 29.47 DK - 19.44

Like I mentioned in the article, I much prefer Cueto on FanDuel but for DraftKings Fulmer makes perfect sense on the short slate as your SP2. To be fair, Fulmer and the Tigers are actually the biggest favorites(-154) on the early slate as they face an Angels team without the best player in the world. The Angels, while actually performing quite well without Trout, have struggled more against right-handed pitchers this season with a .301 wOBA and 91 wRC+.  The strikeouts are somewhat of a concern as he has not struck out more than five batters in four straight starts but the good news is that he really suppresses hard contact(25.1%) and limits the damage done by the long ball(5.8% HR/FB rate). The high-end upside may not be there but the win potential is very high making Fulmer a top play in all formats on the early slate and definitely in consideration in the all-day slate.

Main Slate

Jake Odorizzi FD 7900 DK 7900
Opponent - CHW (Holland) Park - @TB
FD - 31.97 DK - 21.09

On the main slate, it is going to be a little tougher to jam both high-end pitchers into a DraftKings lineup. This has me digging down into the mid-range and plucking out Jake Odorizzi tonight. Outside of those two big favorites at the top(Lester -200, McCullers -195), Odorizzi and the Rays are next up as -147 favorites facing the White Sox. With a low ground ball rate(33.3%) and the fact he gives up too many home runs(18% HR/FB) makes him a GPP play only but he does get a boost to his upside in this elite matchup. Not only have the White Sox been ice cold over the last seven days, but the right-left splits are pretty staggering this season. They lead the league in hitting vs. southpaws while sitting right near the bottom vs. righties with a .293 wOBA and 23.7% K rate(5th highest). The Rays sit just below .500 overall this season but have been better at home with a 17-4 and the offense faces a southpaw in Derek Holland who comes in with a 5.00 xFIP so Odorizzi should definitely get some run support.
