HOUSTON ASTROS

Kauffman Stadium isn't a great place for power -- in fact, it's one of the worst parks in the majors for home run factors. This is not new information. But what goes unnoticed, or at least frequently unmentioned in the DFS universe, is the fact that it's actually an overall favorable environment for offense, especially as we creep into summer. And with temps expected to be approaching 90 degrees at game time, we'll have summertime conditions in Kansas City tonight. All that to say: the park doesn't help us if we're hunting homers, but it's also not a good reason to fade what might be the best offense in baseball. And make no mistake about it, other than the Nationals, nobody is producing like the Astros in 2017. They rank first in wRC+, second in wOBA, second in OBP, second in slugging, and second in ISO -- and they also have the lowest K% in baseball vs. RHP. So, yeah. Lots to like in this lineup, and the matchup isn't bad either. Ian Kennedy's strikeouts are declining for the second straight year, while the walks and homers are both way up, leading to a 5.16 xFIP that mirrors his 5.12 ERA. Now consider that he's benefiting from a ridiculously low .203 BABIP and you get a picture of how badly things are going for the 32-year-old. As for which Astros to use, take your pick. Alex Bregman, Brian McCann and Nori Aoki are the only regulars who don't have a wOBA over .340 or an ISO over .190 vs. RHP this season. Carlos Correa (.404 wOBA, .247 ISO) and Marwin Gonzalez (.455, .354) have done the most damage.

ATLANTA BRAVES

Bartolo Colon is starting and the Braves are favored. This rare concurrence tells us all we need to know about how Vegas views Phillies starter Nick Pivetta. In four big-league starts, the 24-year-old righty has served up five homers in just 19.1 IP, and while his 21% HR:FB ratio will probably regress (assuming he's not sent back to Lehigh Valley before it can), he's gonna have to figure out a way to keep big-leaguers from squaring him up. The sample size is obviously still small, but only 10% of his balls in play have been rated as soft contact, compared to 40% hard contact. Pair that with 27% line drives and 39% fly balls and it's clear what's happening here: dude's getting hammered. And that's when he finds the zone, which has been an issue throughout his pro career. He's also walking more than 4 per 9 IP, which is wiping out any positives that might come from a solid K rate. Unfortunately, the Braves are a pretty uninspiring offense, ranking below league averages in all the metrics we like to look at. And yet, they're pegged with the highest implied total on board tonight. So, grab whoever you want. You won't find great numbers for many of these guys over the long term, but Matt Adams has been raking since coming over to fill in for Freddie Freeman, and Ender Inciarte, Brandon Phillips, Matt Kemp and both Atlanta catchers have done decent work vs. RHP this season.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Like we said, Bartolo Colon is starting, and that simply can't be ignored. The 44-year-old has never been a high-K guy, but he could usually be counted on to pound the zone and keep the ball in the park. That's no longer the case in 2017, and he appears to be in steep decline across the board with a 6.99 ERA. The 4.79 xFIP says he's not quite that bad, and maybe he has suffered from some bad luck in BABIP and strand rate. But still, guys. 4.79. No matter how you slice it, that ain't good. Also, a quick word about SunTrust Park. Two months isn't enough to make statistically valid declarations about park factors, but early returns show a park that plays small. It ranks as the eighth-best park in baseball this season according to ESPN's tabulations, and appears especially favorable to lefties, who have hit 29 HRs in 22 games there this season. Of course, the Phillies' offense has been even worse than the Braves', so Aaron Altherr not withstanding, we don't have a ton of appealing options based on our usual criteria. Just hold your nose, build a couple of stacks and trust in Bartolo to make it easy.
