With rain in the forecast last night, the Mets decided to hold deGrom out and let him pitch today. Here is what I wrote about him yesterday:

We will start right at the top with Jacob deGrom and his beautiful flowing hair. The price is getting pretty steep as he has reached a season high on both sites but has everything going for him and is a terrific target in all formats. It starts with the matchup vs. Padres who have scored fewer runs than just two teams(KC, SF) and rank near the bottom of the league in both wOBA and wRC+ vs. right-handed pitching while striking out at a 24.9% clip. That is great news for deGrom's upside as he has struck out more than 10 batters in four of his nine starts and comes into tonight's matchup with an elite 12.3 K/9 rate and 15.3% swinging strike rate.

Not much changes on Friday including his salary. The opponent is now the Pirates on the road but it is not concerning as the park is still a great environment for pitchers and the Pirates are just a tick higher when looking at the splits. They rank 24th in wOBA(.304) and wRC+(86) and the only downgrade I see at the moment is the fact they strikeout about 6% less than the Padres. He is safe in all formats.

We jump from one beautiful flow to another with Mike Clevinger tonight. It was originally supposed to be Danny Salazar pitching but with the rainout yesterday, Clevinger gets pushed back a day to keep the rotation in tack. The one thing that stood out to me more than anything with him is that the Indians opened as a huge -200 favorite while the Royals are currently projected for under 3.5 implied runs. Clevinger has done a fantastic job early in his second season dropping his ERA by four runs and increasing his strikeout rate by almost 1.5 K's per nine innings. He also gets one of the best matchups on the slate as he will face a Royals team that ranks second to last in wOBA, wRC+ and dead last in overall runs scored this season. Clevinger makes an excellent high-upside SP2 on DraftKings or GPP on FanDuel that will allow you to load up on bats and be a bit contrarian tonight with all the top pitchers on the bump.
