Pitchers
Early Slate
Tyler Anderson FD 8200 DK 8700
Opponent - PHI (Velasquez) Park - @PHI
FD - 26.2 DK - 17.43
I truly wish there was a place I could express my feelings for the pitching options on the early slate today. I just can't trust Jeff Samardzija against a Cubs team that is really starting to rake with a .367 wOBA and 125 wRC+ over the last week and I already used up my Tanaka card in the main article. Now that I have had a few hours to digest that, I actually prefer Tyler Anderson in the early slate for GPP's for a few reasons. I think he will be lower owned as the Yankees are at home and big favorites while the Rockies are slightly favored in a road matchup. While he started out the season giving up four or more earned runs in five of his first six starts, he has rebounded nicely. He comes into this start having won two of his last three starts while holding the Reds, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks to three earned runs or less while striking out 25 batters. Today he faces a Phillies team that has been lacking offense lately with an extremely low 52 wRC+ over the past seven days.
Main Slate
Robbie Ray FD 9200 DK 8600
Opponent - MIL (Davies) Park - @MIL
FD - 32.82 DK - 21.85
On the main slate, there are a few more options to consider and it starts with the strikeout upside of Robby Ray. He is coming off one of his best starts of the season where he shut out the Padres over 7.2 innings while striking out six. While he does come into this matchup with an elite 11.1 K/9 rate, the biggest issue he has faced has been the control as he is currently walking almost five batters per nine innings. Today he goes on the road to Milwaukee who has crushed left-handed pitching this season(2nd in wOBA) but have also struck out over 25% of the time. The good news is that Ray has been tremendous on the road with a 1.03 ERA while holding opponents to a minuscule .218 wOBA and .141 average. He is, in my opinion, not safe for cash games but the ceiling is very high with the K upside making him an excellent GPP target tonight.
