Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/30/17

Welcome back for another exciting night of daily fantasy hockey. As the regular season winds down the matchups intensify as there is still a ton to play for making for some early playoff-like atmosphere. One of the most intriguing storylines down the stretch comes in the Atlantic Division where three Canadian teams(MTL, OTT, TOR) hold the top three spots with no one having locked anything up at this point.

Tonight we get a nice nine game slate with the potential for some high octane offense as no teams are playing on a back to back and just three are playing their third game in four nights. Let's take a look at some of the top plays from the projection system.

Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. GOALIES

Carey PriceCarey Price FD - $9200 DK - $8400
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 19.96 DK - 4.99

Everyone is chasing the Habs for the Atlantic division title and it's in large part to the elite play of their netminder. He was shaky through January and February but has bounced back in a big way in March with an 8-2 record and .941 save % thanks to allowing just one goal in seven of those eight wins. Tonight he gets a matchup at home vs. a division rival but not one that poses a threat. The Panthers are one loss away from being eliminated and their 25th ranked offense stands no match against Carey and the Canadiens(sounds like a small town folk band name). Either way, the Price is right once again!

Sergei BobrovskySergei Bobrovsky FD - $9400 DK - $8000
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 16.71 DK - 4.18

Speaking of red-hot goaltenders carrying their teams to the playoffs, we have Bobrovsky who would be sitting in the top spot if not for his matchup on the road tonight. Either way, the Blue Jackets are favorites against the Hurricanes and their 24th ranked offense and 20th ranked defense. The Canes are also in the hunt for the playoffs and should put up a good effort but have a very tough task against Bobrovsky who has won nine of his last 10 games with four shutouts. His only loss in that time was a 2-1 Overtime defeat to the President's Trophy leading Capitals. I don't think you need to go away from Price in cash games but if you do need the $400 savings on DraftKings, Bob is as safe as they come tonight.

CENTERS

Patrice BergeronPatrice Bergeron FD - $7200 DK - $6700
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 14.7 DK - 4.3

Bergeron has been one of the best two-way players in the game once again with a +10 rating and his fourth straight 50 point season and his seventh in his last eight years. Talk about consistency. The Bruins are fighting to hold on to the final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference and get one of the best matchups of the night against the Stars who have been already mathematically eliminated. Not only that but the Stars also rank 28th in defense this season giving up 3.16 goals per game. Bergeron has cooled off somewhat with just seven points in his last 10 games but the shot volume remains as he has tallied 37 in his last 10 games. He comes at a discount from the top centers and is safe in all formats.

Stack with: Brad Marchand, David Backes, David Pastrnak(PP)

Kyle TurrisKyle Turris FD - $5900 DK - $5000
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 11.95 DK - 3.46

Normally, I would never recommend any forward against the Wild in cash games but tonight is a little different. The Wild have been struggling big time losing four straight and nine of their last 10 games. That isn't even the worst part as their impressive early season defense has allowed 36 goals in those 10 games including four or more four times. Turris has provided a consistent floor lately with 31 shots on goal in his last 10 games while also picking up seven points, five of which came on the powerplay.

Stack with: Mike Hoffman, Erik Karlsson(PP)

Also Consider: Alexander Wennberg(GPP only)

WINGERS

Nikita KucherovNikita Kucherov FD - $8500 DK - $8000
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 17.2 DK - 4.99

If you are building one lineup tonight and looking for that one player to anchor everything off of, make it Kucherov. He is the most expensive winger on the slate which might sway some away but it doesn't really matter at this point. He has put the Bolts on his shoulders down the stretch and brought them to within three points of the Bruins for the final wildcard spot. Kucherov comes into tonight with five straight multi-point games and has 17 total points over his last 10 games with a whopping 40 shots on goal. To top it off, he gets to face a Red Wings team that has been eliminated and ranks 25th overall on defense this season.

Stack with: Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat

Viktor ArvidssonViktor Arvidsson FD - $6700 DK - $6100
Opponent - TOR
Proj Pts FD - 13.98 DK - 3.95

Arvidsson continues to excel in his second full season in the NHL and has helped the Preds sit inside the Top 10 in offense all season long. For fantasy, it starts with his very high floor as he has averaged over three shots on goal per game over the course of the season. Then we turn to his upside where he has provided nine points over his last 10 games with one point on the powerplay and two short-handed goals. He comes into tonight having scored a goal vs. the Leafs earlier in the year in a 6-2 defeat but did manage to record seven shots on goal. I fully expect another high-scoring affair tonight.

Stack with: Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg

Brayden SchennBrayden Schenn FD - $5600 DK - $5200
Opponent - NYI
Proj Pts FD - 10.88 DK - 3.19

The fact that Schenn skates down on the third line really helps suppress his ownership on a nightly basis making him an excellent GPP option. He is still getting around 18-20 of ice time per game as he also skates on the top powerplay unit with Giroux and Simmonds. He comes into tonight's action playing very consistent with points in three of his last four and seven of his last nine games. With a low to mid $5K price tag on both sites, he is safe in all formats.

PP Stack with: Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, Jakub Voracek, Shayne Gostisbehere

DEFENSEMEN
Victor HedmanVictor Hedman FD - $6700 DK - $6600
Opponent - DET
Proj Pts FD - 13.67 DK - 4.06

Both Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson have tougher matchups tonight and while they are always high upside GPP plays, I will turn to Hedman for safety. He comes at a nice discount under $7K on both sites and has a high floor as he has recorded 25 shots and 16 blocks over his last 10 games. He isn't just a safe cash game play, however, as he also has a ton of upside skating in excess of 24 minutes per games and has averaged a point per game over his last 10 to get him to 65 point mark for the season.

Andrej SekeraAndrej Sekera FD - $4600 DK - $4400
Opponent - SJ
Proj Pts FD - 10.24 DK - 3.02

No matter what Sekera does his price continues to hover in the low end of the mid-tier range which is fine by me. You can feel safe rostering him on a nightly basis as he provides elite shot blocking(33 last 10 games) with average shot volume. Then there is the offensive upside as he has recorded eight points over his last 10 games which brings him to 35 on the season, just nine short of his career high. Sekera is a great play in all formats.

Esa LindellEsa Lindell FD - $3400 DK - $3400
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 6.88 DK - 2.1

If you are looking to completely punt one of your D positions, consider Lindell of the Stars. There is little to no offensive upside for the young Finnish player in his rookie season but he has provided a very solid defensive style game on a horrible defensive team. He comes into tonight with a +8 rating which isn't going to help us fantasy wise but it helps get the trust of his coach earning him more ice-time down the stretch. He isn't elite in either category but has provided fairly consistent value with 16 blocks and 15 shots over his last 10 games.
