Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action at DFSR. Today, there are five games overall, but we are focusing our picks entirely on the main slate which starts at 5:00 p.m. ET tonight. There are a couple of solid offenses in action today as well as a few weak defenses to target, so let's not waste any more time and dive right in.
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

The Penguins are by are the biggest favorites today (-205) as they welcome their hated rival the Philadelphia Flyers to town. Murray and the Penguins are looking for revenge as they lost 4-0 a few games ago in Philadelphia. The young tender is coming off of a tough shootout loss as he allowed only one goal in Ottawa. Before that, he was victorious against the Sabres as he again only allowed one goal and he has won four of his last six games. Also, the Pens lost a close game to the Islanders two nights ago, so they've lost two games in a row. Great teams very seldom lose three games in a row and with revenge on their minds this evening, this game could turn into a blowout and Murray is my top goalie play in all formats.
Also Consider: Connor Hellebuyck(WPG)

Sid the Kid is very expensive on both sites and with very good reason. On this short slate, we have to try our best to fit him into our lineups, especially with the center position being horrendous today. He scored a goal on four shots last game and he has seven goals, an assist and 20 shots on goal in his last five games. The Flyers are ranked 24th on defense and the Penguins own the league's best offense, so the red light could be switched on a lot today behind Philly's net. Crosby is in the hunt for the points lead and he will be very motivated for this game and therefore is an elite play in all formats.
Stack With: Connor Sheary, Phil Kessel (PP)

Like I said above, this position is horrendous today aside from Sid the Kid. That is obvious as I'm recommending a Vancouver Canuck player. Sedin made this list because he plays on the #1 line and #1 powerplay with his twin brother Daniel. There is a chance that the Canucks score a few goals today as the Jets are ranked 28th on defense and 26th at killing penalties. They are also the most penalized team in the league. Yikes! An undisciplined bunch those Jets are. Henrik has two goals and an assist in his last three games. He barely shoots the puck, so he has very little safety, but you can consider him for your GPP lineups against a very undisciplined Jets squad.
Stack with: Henrik Sedin, Brandon Sutter (PP)
Also Consider: Derek Stepan(NYR)

Do not touch this young man. He is on fire! He has always displayed his raw talent since entering the league, it's just that he's had trouble staying healthy. He is 100% healthy now and he and the Devils are welcoming the Dallas Stars and their 29th ranked defense to town this evening. Hall has a goal, two assists and 13 shots on goal in his last three games and has points in seven of his last eight games while firing a whopping 33 shots on goal. That's over four shots per game which have safety written all over him today. He also has massive upside as the Stars not only are second worst on defense, but they also own the worst penalty kill unit in the league. Hall is an elite play in all formats today.
Stack with: Kyle Palmeiri, Travis Zajac

This guy is simply too cheap right now as he plays on the #1 line and #1 powerplay in Winnipeg. He actually looks like the Jets powerplay quarterback right now, especially if Buffy remains out of the lineup. Wow, I just realized that he is on a five-game point streak with three goals and five assists. He only has ten shots on goal in those five games which are right in line with his season average (2.06,) but the fact that he plays a huge role on the powerplay makes him a little safer of a play. Also, the Canucks are ranked 23rd on defense and 24th on the penalty kill. Perrault is a decent cash game option at his cheap prices, but where I really like him today is stacked with his dangerous line-mates in our GPP lineups.
Stack with: Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele
Also Consider: Jamie Benn(DAL)

Oh brother, the Jets are terribly thin at the Defense position with Big Buff being the recent player to be on the shelf with an injury. The Jets are out of the playoff picture, so this gives them a chance to see what they have with Morrissey. It looks like he will be a part of this team for many years to come as he contributes well in all areas. The young man scored his first powerplay goal last game on two shots and he blocked five shots. He has 15 blocks in his last five games while averaging 22 minutes of ice time which makes him safe at these near minimum prices. Morrissey is now on the #1 powerplay unit for the Jets which also adds a lot of upside today against the lowly Canucks. Lock him into your lineups right now in every single format.

I'm sure there are a couple of options today to fill your lineups, but I am presenting to you Fowler because of the massive amount of ice time and opportunities he sees on a nightly basis. He has averaged 27 minutes of ice time in his last two games and 25 minutes in his last four games. In those four games, Fowler has two assists, 16 shots, and eight blocks. He plays on the #1 PP unit in Anaheim as well as the #1 penalty kill unit. He doesn't offer much upside today against a solid Rangers squad, but he is a solid play for your cash game lineups.
