Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 3/17/17

Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action at DFSR. Today we have a nice four game slate. Half of the teams in action are playing in back-to-back games (FLA, NJ, DAL, BUF,) and three teams (FLA, DAL and BUF,) are playing their third game in four nights. We have some great picks for you so let's dive right in.

GOALIES

Jonathan Bernier FD - $8500 DK - $8300
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 18.47 DK - 4.62

We actually have two goalies in very favorable positions today (Bernier, Murray,) but because the Devils have scored 10 goals in their last two games and the Sabres were blanked last night, Bernier is my top choice between the pipes for this four-game slate. The former L.A. King has filled in admirably for starter John Gibson since he has been injured. He has won his last four starts while allowing only six goals in those four games while earning a shutout in Chicago three games ago as he stopped all 43 shots he faced. In his last game, the young tender allowed only one goal against the St. Louis Blues. Also, during his four-game win streak, he has recorded a .952 save % and a 1.47 GAA. Are you convinced yet? You should be. Bernier is a great play in all formats against the Sabres and their 21st ranked offense.

CENTERS

Ryan Getzlaf FD - $7500 DK - $6500
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 12.27 DK - 3.8

This guy has been heating up for the Ducks, which is good news as they're right in the middle of the playoff race in the Western Conference. Anaheim's captain has six goals and 19 points in his last 14 games and he is currently on a three-game point streak with two goals and four assists. What's even more impressive about him is the fact that he has averaged over a blocked shot per game and has 69 for the season. That simply means that he's a safer pick for your cash game lineups. Today Getzlaf and the Ducks welcome the Sabres and their 21st ranked offense to town. Buffalo lost in L.A. 2-0 last night and this is their third game in four nights. Getzlaf is a great play in all formats.

Adam Henrique FD - $4300 DK - $4000

Proj Pts FD - 10.21 DK - 3.08

I'm going to tell you right now that this is not a "safe" pick and please don't get mad if he puts up a big goose egg today. If we want to win a tournament, we need to look for a guy who will be low owned. Enter Henrique who plays on the second line and the #1 PP with the talented Taylor Hall. The veteran center scored two goals on four shots last night against the Flyers and he has three goals in his last two games. The system likes him today and he is so cheap that we can afford to surround him with some star players. Henrique is a solid GPP play today on his own or stacked with his powerplay linemates.

WINGERS

Conor Sheary FD - $6000 DK - $6600
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 12.24 DK - 3.71

Most people still don't know who this guy is, but that won't last long. He plays on the top line with Sidney Crosby and he is turning heads as we speak with his blazing speed and quick hands. The young man has 43 points in 49 games, 12 goals and 24 points in his last 20 games and three goals and eight points since he came back from an injury on March 3rd. He put up a dud last game against Philly, but everyone on the Pens had a rough game. The Penguins should score a few goals today and look for Sheary to get in on the action. He is a great play in all formats against New Jersey and their 22nd ranked defense.

Chris Kreider FD - $6000 DK - $5500
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 11.85 DK - 3.39

I am going to pick on another team who is playing in back-to-back games and also their third game in four nights. The Panthers haven't been bad overall defensively this year as they're ranked 16th in that category, but they've gotten worse as the season has progressed and they are out of the playoff picture. Kreider is on a four-game point streak with two goals, three assists and 15 shots on goal in those four games. Apparently, he likes playing the Panthers as he scored a goal on eight shots against them four games ago to start his streak. At these prices, Kreider is safe in all formats.

DEFENSEMEN

Ryan McDonagh FD - $5700 DK - $5100
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 10.41 DK - 3.35

I almost always go with a cheap defenseman, but since we can save money at the winger position today, we can spend up a little here. I love the upside as well as the safety that McDonagh has offered lately. He has two goals, one assist, and ten shots on goal with five blocks in his last three games. He averages just under 25 minutes of ice time per game and he plays on the #1 powerplay as well as the #1 penalty kill unit in New York. Fire him up today in all formats against the Panthers.
