Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!
Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.
By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!
Aldridge and Parker both play huge roles on this offense, so their absence leaves a lot to be picked up. Dejounte Murray is also the backup of Parker, so they will be short at PG. Patty Mills is one of the top plays on this slate and we will touch on him later. With Leonard also questionable, the Spurs as a whole may be very short-handed. David Lee and Dewayne Dedmon are both in play with Lee being the much better option.
With 3 players already out for the Spurs, they will be very reliant on Leonard if he plays. For that reason, I do like him in tournaments if he's active. If he misses like expected, Kyle Anderson, David Lee, and Patty Mills all get a bump. They will each pick up a few extra minutes and have a much higher usage. Lee and Mills are cash game options while Anderson is a guy I will only have in tournaments.
Gobert missed last game against the Thunder, resulting in a whole lot of nothing. With Withey struggling, the Jazz spread the minutes around to Withey, Bolomboy, and Trey Lyles. Withey has a little bit of upside in this match-up as he will be needed to match the size of DeAndre Jordan. He did play extremely well last season with Rudy Gobert out for a couple of months.
Both Chandler and Nelson play big roles on this team and r equally valuable at their positions. If Nelson gets ruled out, you almost have to play Jamal Murray. They have been getting him more minutes and you can hypothetically lock him in for 35 if Nelson is out. As for Chandler, he is a shot-taking machine. If he's out, Danilo and Gallinari and Nikola Jokic should see the ball more often. Jokic and Gallo are both on my radar tonight as cash game and tournament options.
Kaminsky was expected to be out for a while, so this is a bit of a surprise to see him return so soon. Both Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller will see a huge hit as they have relied on huge minutes for production. If Kaminsky is officially ruled active, I will be avoiding the Hornets interior.
DeMarre Carroll has disappointed for the most pat all-seaosn long but does still play big minutes. If Carroll plays, all appeals falls away from this spot. If Carroll is out once again, P.J. Tucker makes a lot of sense as a punt in cash games. The Raptors should score plenty tonight and he will be on the court for 85% of the game.
The optimizer is all over these guys and rightfully so. With both Parker and Murray ruled out, you can plug Patty Mills in for 32, which is playing it extremely safe. Pop could choose to run him out for 40 minutes and just let him sit next game out. He also see's one of the better match-ups in the league against the Hawks and Dennis Schroder, who have been more than inept against the PG. As for Lee, he has a cemented role in close games with Aldridge out. He is the guy who will be on the court down the stretch and it only makes sense as he is far more talented than Dewayne Dedmon. Lee can be locked in for 25 minutes and 25 fantasy points.
