Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 2/22/17

Hello hockey fans and welcome to another day of NHL action at DFSR. We only have three games on tap for today, but we have some nice picks lined up for you. Edmonton is the only team playing in a back-to-back scenario and Anaheim is the only team that is playing their third game in four nights.  Let's get started shall we?

Let's start off today with a star goalie who is about to face the league's 23rd ranked offense. The Capitals are the best team in the league, but they have lost their last two games. What does this mean? It means that it is not good news for Philly as Washington is going to be firing on all cylinders this evening. Prior to his last game which was an overtime loss in Detroit, Holtby was 14-0-0 with a 9.24 save % and four shutouts. Yes, you read that correctly. 14-0! Holtby is the only goalie that you should be considering in all formats this evening.

 

 

 

CENTERS

Connor McDavid FD - $8700 DK - $8200
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 16.7 DK - 4.85

On a three-game slate, it is very dangerous to fade one of the very best players in the league. This young man happens to lead the league in points with 67 so far this season. He was held pointless in Tampa Bay last night, but star players very seldom go two nights in a row without scoring a point. Before last night's game, McDavid was on a four-game point streak. During those four games, he had two goals, five assists and ten shots on goal. The Panthers are ranked 13th on defense, but they have been playing over their heads recently. Like I said earlier, McDavid is very tough to fade today and he is a great play in all formats.

Evgeny Kuznetsov FD - $6900 DK - $5800
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 14.76 DK - 4.57

The Philadephia Flyers are not a good hockey team. The Capitals and their 2nd ranked offense face-off today against the Flyers' and their 25th ranked defense. Ouch! This one could get ugly folks. We need exposure to Washington and for me, it starts with the young Russian, Evgeny Kuznetsov. This guy has finally started to show his potential this season and he plays on the #2 line and the deadly #1 power-play unit for the Capitals. He isn't the safest play in the world as he averages just under two shots per game, but he has massive upside on any given day. If you want to take down a tournament or two today, stack Kuznetsov with his insanely talented power-play line-mates.

WINGERS

Brad Marchand FD - $7700 DK - $7300

Being a Habs fan, this makes me quiver as I am about to talk about "The Weasel." But in DFS, we cannot let our personal opinions of a player cloud our judgment. This guy has been blazing hot lately and he is currently matchup proof. The Ducks of Anaheim are ranked sixth best in the league on offense and they have been playing some darned good hockey lately. On that note, Marchand and the Bruins can make any team look silly on any given day. The New Year has been very kind to the Bruins' star winger. Since January 5th, in 20 games, Marchand has 15 goals and 29 points. Wow! He has points in eight of his last nine games and has a goal, an assist, 10 shots on goal and three blocked shots in his last two games. Enough said. Lock and load this guy in all formats.

Jonathan Huberdeau FD - $6200 DK - $6300
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 14.38 DK - 4.3

This young French-Canadian has been one of my favorite players since he joined the league a few years ago. He suffered an injury in the pre-season, but he is currently 100 % healthy and has returned with a vengeance. The system loves this guy and with good reason. Huberdeau has played in seven games since his injury and has four goals, four assists and 23 shots on goal. The Panthers are a good team with this young man in their lineup, as he is the engine that runs their offense. He plays on Florida's top line and #1 power-play unit. This game has the highest projected total today (5.5,) so look for the Panthers to score at least a couple of goals. Huberdeau is a great play in all formats on this tiny slate.

DEFENSEMEN

Oscar Klefbom FD - $4900 DK - $5000

If you watch as much hockey as I do, you notice certain players who are extremely valuable for their respective teams. Klefbom is one of those guys and since both Draftkings and FanDuel feature blocked shots as a scoring category, Oscar is one of the best PTS/$ defensemen every single game. Never mind his blocking abilities, this guy has been showing that he is gifted offensively as well. In his last four games, he has two goals, three assists, 11 shots on goal, eight blocked shots and has averaged 24 minutes of ice time. He has also recently been promoted to Edmonton's #1 power-play unit which puts his value through the roof. Oscar is easily my favorite defenseman in all formats today.
