Hello friends(in my Jim Nance voiceover) and welcome to another early week edition of our daily fantasy hockey picks. Tuesday brings us a busy nine-game slate where most teams will be rested with no teams playing a back to back. There are, however, 10 teams playing a third game in four nights. Let's take a look and then get into the picks.
Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Tonight's slate has a bit of a GPP feel to it with no elite goaltender in a slam dunk position. The Lightning are not the biggest favorites tonight but Bishop has been red hot, plays on home ice, and comes with a very affordable price tag, especially on DraftKings. He has won four straight games coming into tonight while saving 101 of 106 shots for an elite .954 save percentage. He may feel safe but the Oilers are a much-improved team this year led by McJesus and co. and have one of the best road records in the Western Conference.

In the #2 slot tonight is the league's leading goalie in Save %(.934), GAA(1.97) and Wis(32). The problem is similar to that of Bishop as he will be on home ice tonight as a slight favorite but facing a strong Western Conference team. Dubnyk has picked up where he left off and is 5-2 since the ASB allowing three or less goals in six of those seven games. He faced the Blackhawks earlier this season and picked up the win, stopping 33 of 35 shots he faced. I am looking for similar results tonight as the Wild attempt to leapfrog the Capitals for the #1 spot in the NHL.
Also Consider: Cory Schneider(GPP)
**Crosby and Malkin make excellent plays for the Pens tonight. They are pretty obvious and can even separately be used in cash games or stacked together in GPP's. I will provide three other plays below if you are planning to fade the Pens**

First up is Auston Matthews who comes at a nice discount from the Penguins centers in the mid $7K range. Elite shot volume isn't normally something we see from the center position but Matthews is an exception. Over his last 10 games, he has recorded a whopping 37 shots on goal and sits 8th overall when looking at shot attempts/60 minutes played. Not only is the floor high for cash games, but the upside is there for tournaments as well as he has recorded 10 points over his last 10 games with three multi-point efforts. Lock him into your lineups tonight in all formats.

Seeing as we are talking about elite shot volume from the center position, I won't go any further without mentioning Jeff Carter. He sits inside the Top 20 in shot attempts/60 minutes played and has turned that into a high floor fantasy game as he is averaging 3.2 shots on goal per game and has seen an uptick lately with 43 shots in his last 10 games. He is also averaging a point per game over those last 10 played and gets an elite matchup vs. the Avalanche who rank dead last in defense.
Stack with: Tanner Pearson

Looking for a punt/value play at the Center position? Look no further than ex Moose Jaw Warrior Brayden Point. He has received a tremendous opportunity to skate in the Bolts top six while Steven Stamkos is out and he has done nothing but impress. He has now recorded a point in four straight games and has tallied eight points over his last 10 games played. He doesn't provide much in terms of shot volume yet but at a sub $4K price, he is safe in all formats.
Stack with: Alex Killorn, Jonathan Drouin

What an incredible year for rookies in the National Hockey League. There are currently 20 rookies who have 20 or more points and right at the top of the leaderboard is none other than Mr. Laine with a whopping 52 points, just short of averaging a point per game. He is also tied with Auston Matthews with 28 goals which also happens to rank inside the Top 10 overall. He also provides a nice safe floor for cash games as he is averaging just shy of three shots on goal per game.
Stack with: Mark Scheifele, Mathieu Perreault

These two continue to skate on the top line with Sidney Crosby and come with sub $5K price tags on both sites. That is almost an unavoidable situation coming from the #1 offense in the league. Combining the two of them allows you to easily stack Crosby and Malkin, giving you exposure to both the top lines and powerplay units in a matchup vs. the Canes who have allowed four or more goals in four of their last five games.
Stack with: Sidney Crosby, Phil Kessel(PP)

I will continue to roll out a value approach when it comes to the defense position, at least for cash games. It provides us with the capability to roster multiple high-end forwards who, in my opinion, are more consistent offensively. It starts with Morrissey tonight in the mid $3K range. The 21-year-old doesn't have a high ceiling just yet but his future is very bright. What he does offer is a safe floor as he has blocked 25 shots over his last 10 games with 16 shots on goal. He has also seen an uptick in ice-time as he has skated 23+ minutes in each of the last two games.
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 8.23 DK - 2.5
First of all, he does not provide much of anything in terms of offensive upside but makes a very viable punt cash game play or salary relief option if stacking multiple studs at forward. With 34 shot blocks in his last 10 games, he now has 151 for the season or an average of 2.6 per game while skating just over 22 minutes.
Also Consider: Dustin Byfuglien(WPG)
