GOALIES
Matthew Murray FD - $9300 DK - $8200
Opponent - WPG
Proj Pts FD - 18.64 DK - 4.66
Leading things off tonight is Mr. Murray who has been playing lights out since the All-Star break. He is coming off a 29 save shutout of the Canucks on Tuesday and has won four of his last five starts while stopping 149 of 157 shots he has faced for an impressive .949 save percentage. The Pens are also one of the biggest favorites(-220) of the night at home to the Jets. There is a little risk as the Jets do rank inside the Top 10 in offense but have been a slightly better team on home ice this season. Murray is a go in all formats tonight.
**UPDATE: Fleury is starting and is also a great play tonight. **
Jake Allen FD - $8200 DK - $8100
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 18.1 DK - 4.53
After a bit of a slow start to the season for both the team and Allen, both have bounced back nicely in the month of February. The Blues have won five straight and six of seven games this month. Allen has been between the pipes for five of those games and has gone 4-1 while stopping 142 of 149 shots for an elite .953 save percentage. The Blues are one of the two teams playing a back to back but come in as -190 favorites at home to the struggling Canucks. His best value is on FanDuel tonight where he comes with a $1,100 discount from Murray.
Also Consider: Cory Schneider(NJ)
CENTERS
**Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid are both in play once again but I will be digging a little deeper and have three great value options in top matchups tonight**
Jack Eichel FD - $7200 DK - $7200
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 13.6 DK - 4.49
I start with Eichel who comes with a low $7K price tag on both sites and comes with safety for cash games as well as big upside for tournaments tonight. The safety comes in the form of shot volume which can be hard to find at the position. Over his last 10 games, he has tallied 35 shots on goal and is averaging 3.9 per game for the season. The offensive output can be inconsistent at times but when he gets it going can win you a GPP. he has recorded multiple points in 10 of his 36 games this season.
PP Stack with: Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart, Ryan O'Reilly
Jeff Carter FD - $7900 DK - $7300
Opponent - ARI
Proj Pts FD - 15.43 DK - 4.93
Carter is a little more expensive version of Eichel. He has been red hot with 11 points over his last 10 games with 36 shots on goal making him a safe option in all formats. He gets an elite matchup vs. the Coyotes who are the only team playing a third game in four nights after playing back to back games in Edmonton and Calgary on Monday and Tuesday. They also rank 27 on defense and have given up four or more goals in three of their last six games.
Stack with: Tanner Pearson
Patrik Berglund FD - $4300 DK - $4400
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 9.25 DK - 2.72
If you are looking for even more value at the position, take a shot with the Blues second line center. Berglund has been on a scoring rampage lately with six goals over his last six games including a hat trick vs. the Habs on Saturday. He has also seen a slight uptick in shot volume recently with 26 shots over his last 10 games. That combined with the mid $4K price tag makes him an excellent play in all formats today, providing some salary relief to get you to some star players.
Stack with: David Perron, Jaden Schwartz
WINGERS
Patric Hornqvist FD - $7100 DK - $6200
Opponent - WPG
Proj Pts FD - 12.31 DK - 4.08
Jake Guentzel FD - $4200 DK - $4600
Opponent - WPG
Proj Pts FD - 8.16 DK - 2.5
I am going to give you two players here from the same team playing on two separate lines. The Penguins are huge -220 favorites tonight and are projected to for over 3.5 goals as they face a struggling Jets team that has lost four of their last five games giving up 20 goals. Hornqvist has heated up with stick lately as he has picked up seven goals in his last 10 games with a whopping 37 shots on goal. The salary is also in a fair spot on both sites making him safe in all formats. For value, take Jake Guentzel who has spent each of the last two games skating on the top line with Sid the Kid. He has responded with a point in each game with eight shots. His very low cost makes it easy to stack Crosby with him and Hornqvist to get a ton of exposure to the powerplay.
Stack with: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin
Jordan Weal FD - $3000 DK - $3000
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 6.34 DK - 1.99
He is finally getting a steady opportunity to produce at the NHL level. He spent his first season with the Kings where he only played 10 games and got minimal ice time in a deep lineup. he then got traded to the Flyers and seen the same treatment with minimal ice time and opportunity last season. With some injuries this season, he has gotten the call once again, this time stepping into the top six for the Flyers. He has yet to record a point but if you watched the game last night he more than stood out in Calgary. He showed speed, skill and a terrific shot(tallied 6 shots total). He also saw nearly four minutes on the powerplay. At minimum price, he is safe in all formats.
Stack with: Sean Couturier, Jakub Voracek
DEFENSEMEN
Rasmus Ristolainen FD - $5100 DK - $5900
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 11.33 DK - 4
I absolutely love the Sabres tonight in an elite matchup vs. the worst team in the National Hockey League. The Avs rank dead last in the standings which is a reflection of their 30th ranked defense and offense. Ristolainen has been a cash game consideration all season with his balance of elite shot blocking and above high shot volume. He has also shown tremendous offensive upside which gets a nicve boost tonight. He is sfae in all formats.
Ivan Provorov FD - $4800 DK - $4300
Opponent - EDM
Proj Pts FD - 10.13 DK - 3.02
Here he is again! Seriously, though, until his price starts to come up above the $5K mark I will consider him every time out. He continues to provide an elite floor for cash games with his shot blocking(2.1 per game) and improving shot volume(33 shots last 10 games). He also showed elite offensive upside in junior and as he improves defensively we will start to see it more at the NHL level.
