Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!
Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.
By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!
Porzingis has been out for a while now, and we have seen some players take advantage. Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Carmelo Anthony have already seen the biggest bumps in production, and both are in play tonight. The Celtics have a few decent individual defenders, but play fast and don't have a great defensive efficiency. You can look at both Anthony and Kuzminskas in cash, and tournaments as well.
Adams is still in the concussion protocol, and will be held out at least another game. Enes Kanter will step in if the game stays close, and he has a ton of upside. Joffrey Lauvergne and Domantas Sabonis could also see some extra run, and I do have slight interest in both.
KCP will miss his 3rd consecutive game, and could be out for a few more. Stanley Johnson has played big minutes, and saw 38 minutes in the last contest. He should see big minutes again tonight, and you can definitely play him in tournaments. The price is cheap, and we have seen the upside in the past.
McConnell and Embiid both play big minutes, and Noel could step in for Embiid if he misses. If all 3 are out, Jahlil Okafor will play 30 minutes, and is a great option against the Raptors. Sergio Rodriguez will also get the start, and you can consider him in all formats. His price is still cheap, and should have the ball in his hands a ton.
Thompson went from probable, to out, to questionable. He is currently questionable, and I really don't think he ends up playing. Ian Clark will likely get the start, but he doesn't do enough for me. Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston could get some extra run, and they could be interesting in a game vs the high paced Thunder.
Fourier is likely to miss this game, and Elfrid Payton will continue his good play. He has been great as of late, and the Pelicans aren't a team that I am too scared of. Serge Ibaka will see a usage boost as well, and he is interesting in tournaments. If Fournier does play, I will limit my Magic exposure to just Elfrid Payton.
Noah has been a big rebounder for the Knicks, so if he misses, someone will have to step in. With Kristaps Porzingis already ruled out, Kyle O'Quinn and Hernangomez will be interesting. I will have O'Quinn in cash if he starts, and Hernangomez will be limited to tournaments.
Anderson sat out against the Heat, so I wouldn't expect him to return tonight. The Bucks are a team that has a lot of size, so Montrezl Harrell could end up playing some 4. Sam Dekker also played some PF last night, and he was pretty productive while on the court. I don't think I will look at either in cash games, but a tournament flier is in play for each.
If one of these guys plays and the other is out, I like the one that plays. If both play, I like neither. If both are out, Jonas Valunciunas and Pascal Siakam will both get big minutes. I am fine with both in cash ,and don't mind them in tournaments either. DeMarre Carroll could also see some minutes at the 4, but will see at least 34 minutes anyways.
Coach Casey hinted that he could rest Derozan, so I do see it happening. Kyle Lowry gets the biggest bump, and Terrence Ross will also get a huge boost. I love both of them across the board, as well as whoever ends up starting in the interior. If this game stays close, you could certainly benefit from a game stack.
Kyle Lowry
Like I just mentioned, Demar Derozan could be rested today. With PatPat and Nogueira already questionable, the usage could be huge for Lowry here. He has no problem shooting a bunch, but usually just lets Derozan do that. It will be either Sergio Rodriguez or T.J. McConnell that ends up on Lowry, and neither stand a chance. I talked about Lowry in the main picks article, and he is still my favorite point guard on the board with price considered.
Mindaugas Kuzminskas
I won't lie, this is a little bit scary. Kuzminskas has been getting solid minutes though, and the production has absolutely been there. He started last game, and finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. The Celtics don't scare me one bit, and I think he has another solid game. His price has yet to rise, and we can keep targeting him as a safe value play until it does.
