Welcome back daily fantasy hockey fans. I hope you are staying warm. Sorry for the delay in the article, it's currently -43 Celcius here in Saskatchewan and well things freeze. LOL. On with the hockey.
Big nine-game slate tonight with just two teams(MON & PIT) playing a back to back. The Canadiens along with the Stars are also playing a third game in four nights. There are some big favorites tonight meaning the goalie ownership should be somewhat spread out. Let's dig in and take a look at some of the top plays from the projection system.

GOALIES
Cameron Talbot FD - $8800 DK - $8100
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 20.45 DK - 5.11
Almost everything is pointed in the direction of a big night for Talbot and the Oilers. They open as -200 favorites at home to the Devils who come to town with a three-game losing streak and awful road record(6-12-5). He has been a bit up and down all season but has been terrific lately with a 6-2-2 record and .922 save % over the last 10 games. I started off saying "almost" and the one reason to hesitate using Talbot in cash games is the fact the Devils are only averaging just over 26 shots on goal per game.
Also Consider: Tuukka Rask(BOS)
CENTERS
Sidney Crosby FD - $9400 DK - $8300
Opponent - OTT
Proj Pts FD - 17.95 DK - 5.23
He is the most expensive player(any position) on DraftKings and only Carey Price & DevanDubnyk are more expensive on FanDuel. Crosby is still an elite play and should be motivated after watching Ovi reach 1,000 points last night in Washington. Crosby isn't going to get to the coveted 50 goals in 50 games level this season but leads the league in pts/game(1.32) by a wide margin over Steven Stamkos, who has been on the IR for over a month. If you are stacking the Pens tonight, I favor the powerplay which has scored four times in the last three games and faces the Sens who rank Top 10 in penalty minutes per game.
Stack With: Connor Sheary, Evgeni Malkin(PP)
Brayden Schenn FD - $6300 DK - $6000
Opponent - VAN
Proj Pts FD - 11.99 DK - 4.03
If you are looking at the Flyers tonight in a great matchup, Brayden Schenn is the clear choice from a cash game perspective. He comes at a discount from Giroux and has been outperforming him lately with seven points over his last 10 games including three goals on the powerplay. If you are stacking Flyers, start with Simmonds who plays on his wing at even strength and on the powerplay and then add Giroux and Voracek for a full PP1 stack.
Stack with: Wayne Simmonds, Claude Giroux(PP), Jakub Voracek(PP)
Vladislav Namestnikov FD - $4700 DK - $4100
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 8.91 DK - 2.67
If you are looking for a bit of savings at the center position today take a shot wit Namestnikov. He is currently skating on the top line with Kucherov and Palat and has recorded a point in two straight and three of his last four games. The Lightning also happen to be in a great position tonight as they are currently the only team projected to score three or more goals.
Stack with: Ondrej Palat, Nikita Kucherov
WINGERS
Brad Marchand FD - $7100 DK - $6600
Opponent - NAS
Proj Pts FD - 13.82 DK - 4.21
The Bruins offense has struggled overall(23rd) but when Marchand is on a tear he is safe in all formats. He has no scored five goals in his last three games and has 11 points over his last 11 games including five powerplay points and a short-handed goal. The matchup isn't elite, by any means, facing the Predators but the Bruins have been a better team on the road for two straight seasons and the top line has a ton of upside for tournaments as a stack.
Stack with: Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak
Jonathan Drouin FD - $6400 DK - $5600
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 13.87 DK - 4.15
From a PTS/$ perspective, Drouin is right near the top tonight. Like I mentioned with Namestikov, the Bolts are the only team currently projected by Vegas to score 3+ goals and get a great matchup vs the Sabres who sit with a -17 goal differential on the season. Drouin skates on the second line and has been red hot lately with five goals and 11 points over his last 10 games including five powerplay points.
Stack with: Valtteri Filppula, Brian Boyle
Also Consider: Tanner Pearson(LAK)
DEFENSEMEN
Victor Hedman FD - $7200 DK - $5900
Opponent - BUF
Proj Pts FD - 14.5 DK - 4.49
By now you have probably noticed a trend. The Lightning are my favorite team of the night. Not surprising really as they are the highest project scoring team on the slate. While Hedman's price continues to rise, he remains a top play from a PTS/$ standpoint as he has stayed hot with 12 points in the last 10 games ad contributes across the board with blocks, shots, high ice time and powerplay usage. Get on board!
Andrej Sekera FD - $4300 DK - $4300
Opponent - NJ
Proj Pts FD - 9.08 DK - 2.8
A familiar face if yo have been reading mine and Ryan'sarticless lately. Sekera's price remains in the low to mid $4K range on both sites and he continues to provide a consistent floor for daily fantasy players. Over his last 10 games, he has recorded 18 blocks and 18 shots to go along with six assists. He also skates over 22 minutes per game with over two minutes of that coming on the powerplay.
Also Consider: Alec Martinez(LAK)
