Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it!
Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight.
By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below!
Dragic has played a pretty healthy amount of minutes this year, but did sit out last game. We saw Tyler Johnson, Josh Richardson and James Johnson get around 30 minutes. I do like Richardson and Johnson, but won't pull the trigger on a guy who has always been very up and down with minutes and production. Waiters also only played 19minutes, which tells me one of those other 3 guys are going to lose minutes to him, as he will be around 30 MPG over the season.
J.J. Barea is the main guy to look at here, and you should robably be playing him. Sure, he might of screwed a bunch of us over against the Warriors, but that is just what happens from time to time with DFS NBA. There are going to be a lot of frusturating nights and things happen that you can't control. You just have to make sure it doesn't cloud your judgement for next time. He is in a great spot here and is a fantastic play in all formats. Aside from Barea, Seth Curry will remain seeing about 30 minutes.
I do expect George to play, but there are definitely some beneficiaries if he sits out, with the first of which being C.J. Miles. He should see over 30 minutes and put up plenty of shots. Since George is such a big part of the offense, his absence creates a trickle down effect and ends up benefiting everyone in the starting lineup. I like Jeff Teague a lot tonight as well if PG is out, as he should have the ball in his hands a lot more than often and we know he can productive as the main scorer.
Isaiah Thomas is another guy that is a huge part of his offense and you never really know what will happen to the offense when the star goes out. Sometimes the 2nd best player picks up the slack, and sometimes the 9 and 10 bench guy pick up the slack. On the Celtics offense, I expect it to be Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart. Kelly Olynyk has also been playing quite well and deserves some consideration at his price.
Mike Conley has always been a very injury plagued player and it has started early this season. He has a sore hamstring and is questionable to play against a slow Jazz team. This game is going to be very slow and I will have very little exposure to it. If Conley does miss, I like Andrew Harrison to play around 3 minutes and makes sense for cash games and tournaments at his price.
Derrick Favors is another guy that has in injury plagued career, but has been very good when healthy. If he does play, I think he is a decent option and should be out on the court for plenty of minutes. If he is out, Trey Lyles comes into play, though he is hard to trust in a low scoring game.
Andre Drummond is obviously a huge part of the Pistons offense, and if he does indeed sit, will cause a huge difference in the style the Pistons play. Aron Baynes will also get around 30 minutes, and he always produces when given the opportunity. Steven Adams is a good defender, but at his price, you have to play Baynes.
Rodney Hood plays around 28-30 minutes and definitely opens up some opportunity if he sits out. With Alec Burks out as well, the Jazz will have to lean on the likes of Joe Johnson and Shelvin Mack to fill the void. I like Johnson if Hood misses, though would only play him in tournament due to the reasons I mentioned earlier about this game.
There 3 guys to consider paying up for tonight. We have Westbrook, Harden and Davis. I immediately crossed Westbrook off that list when he played 38 extremely energetic minutes. He has only average 31 MPG in back to backs, which tells me that they plan on letting him sit for a couple extra minutes tonight. That leaves us with Harden and Davis. They are both amazing plays and I am going to do whatever I can to get both in my lineup. However, if I had t pick 1, I will take Davis. Th Celtics are bottom 5 in the league in rebounding, and that is no mirage with the likes of Zeller and Amir Johnson contending with opposing bigs. AD should be able to bully them, and at least hit value in cash games with the upside to shatter it in tournaments.
We already talked about him quite a bit, so i won't make this long. Barea is in for a safe 32 minutes tonight, with the type of upside to play 40. At time, Barea can become ball dominant and take over games. If that happens, you will have noc hance of contending in cash games and tournaments without him. He will be highly owned, but it just might be worth it. The Knicks are the 23rd team in the league against PG's, and offer little to no resistance at the rim. Joakim Noah is far from his prime and nowhere near the rim protector he used to be.
