Daily Fantasy CFL Drafkings Picks Week 18 - 10/21/16

This week is a little difficult because of some uncertainty of who is playing and who is not, but I believe that we can find enough plays that will help fatten our wallets. Let's enjoy our last week of the 2017 Canadian Football League season.

There's still time to access out NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Quarterback

Mike Reilly Edmonton Eskimos 11,400

Even if every other starting QB was playing this week, Reilly would still be my top choice as there are so many reasons that lead me to believe that he will have a monster game. First of all, players will deny that they worry about individual stats, but we all now that it is a huge deal to them. Reilly is the league's leading passer in the CFL, and is 446 yards away from reaching 6,000. That is a monster number and it is not out of reach this week vs an awful Toronto team. Another key factor this week is that the Eskimos need a win to move ahead of Winnipeg to avoid crossing over to the East Division Nobody wants to be the cross-over team. Besides being the top passer in the league, the stud QB is 2nd with 28 TD's, and is 2nd in rushing TD's with 9, which includes running backs. That is awesome. The Argos give up the fewest yards in the league through the air with 263.8, but that is because they've played against mostly backup offences the last few weeks. Reilly matchup proof anyways so I don't care who he's playing against, and he's average 26.2 dk points in his last 3 weeks. He is a must play in cash games in this final week, and is a tough fade in your tournament  lineups as well.

Brock Jensen Ottawa Red-Blacks 6500

There are very few good choices this week, and after Reilly it looks plain awful. On that note though we need a cheap option for our tournament lineups and here we go.  Jensen is the 3rd stringer in the Nation's Capital, but he gets the starting nod this week because Ottawa has 1st place in the East division, and home field advantage already clinched. He will want to prove that he belongs in Ottawa, and here's his chance in a home matchup against the Bombers. He played a full game in week 5 and did pretty good as he through for 271 yards and 2 TD's for 23.1 dk points. Winnipeg gives up the most yards in the CFL through the air (333.4 per game) which is really bad l, and Ottawa has stated that Jensen will be playing the entire game no matter the score. He makes a good cheap tourney play and you can surround him with pretty much every high priced player you can find at other positions.

Also Considered Ricky Ray (Tourneys)

Running Back

Mike Harris Winnpeg Blue Bombers 8200

I love determining my running back selection by predicting the upcoming game script, and Harris fits the bill perfectly this week. We need to spend up at RB this week, but don't worry as there is a ton of value at the WR position. The Bombers need to win badly this week to stay ahead of Edmonton and possibly take 2nd in the West from BC if they lose. With Ottawa starting their 3rd string QB and most likely a lot of their other starters, Winnipeg should get ahead early and feed the ball to Harris over and over again. He only needs 86 yards to reach 1000 yards for the year, and that won't be a problem. What makes him the top choice at RB this week though is his extensive work in the passing game with 21 catches in his last 3 games. That's huge on DraftKings where you get a point for a catch. His last 3 dk scores were 21.9, 23.3, and 22.6, and he will be in every single one of my cash game lineups this week..

John White Edmonton Eskimos 8000

Since we have the cash game selection covered let's discuss my favourite tourney play this week, and it won't take long for you to realize why. I already mentioned that the Eskimos need to win this game, and White will be heavily involved as per usual. He is tough to stomach in cash games though because Edmonton plays in a lot of wide receiver heavy sets, so blocks a lot. But we can never know how the game will turn out, and if they get ahead early on the Argos, as they most likely should, then they will pound the rock with White. He had average games the last 2 weeks, but he scored 35.8 and 40.8 dk points. When he gets going he simply cannot be stopped. Lock him into your tourney lineups. On to the popular WR position.

Wide Reciever

Emmanuel Arcenueax BC Lions 9800

The final week is a tough week because sometimes we don't know who is going to play and for how long players are going to play for. So as any other sport we simply check who still has something to play for and/or who is playing for a job next year. In this case it is the former as Manny will probably retire as a BC Lion. This guy is blazing fast and tall enough to jump over the smaller corners. The veteran will see a ton of targets from his QB Jennings this week, as his team needs to beat Saskatchewan to secure 2nd place and a 1st round home game. Arceneaux had his worst game 3 games ago with a terrible 3.6 dk points. I'm not sure what happened there, but if you can rememeber, I gave him a mulligan and he has rewarded me and hopefully you guys the last 2 games with 12 catches for 200 yards and 3 TD's for an average of 27.5 dk points per game. Manny is definitely my top option in all formats this weekend.

Darvin Adams Winnipeg Blue Bombers 6800

As a Blue Bomber fan what a relief it is to finally have our top wideout back and fully healthy. Winnipeg was winning without him, but he will be very important in the playoffs for the Blue and Gold. Adams enjoyed his 1st game back last week vs Ottawa as he caught 9 passes for 87 yards and a TD, and he faces the same team this week, except Ottawa is resting quite a few of their starters. This price is way too cheap, and it should be a hay day for the Bombers, so lock and load this guy in all formats.

Kenny Shaw Toronto Argonauts 5900

Here we have a situation where a WR's team is bad and out of the playoffs, so he is simply playing for his job. I don't think Shaw is in jeopardy of losing his job and should be in the future plans for Toronto, but he has been Ricky Ray's favourite target this year when they've both been healthy. Last game Shaw hauled in 8 of Ray's passes for 122 yards which was good for 22.2 dk points. He does 5 Td's this year and is only 40 yards shy of that magic 1,000 number. I also like Shaw in all formats this week.

Kevin Elliot Hamilton Tiger-Cats 4600

Elliot lost his job with Toronto earlier this season, but so did half of the other guys on the team. He obviously has talent as Hamilton wasted no time by picking him up, and they may be on to something for the future. Elliot has played the last 2 games and has 10 receptions for 174 yards and 2 TD's for an average of 19.2 dk points. That is way too cheap for that kind of production, and he will fill one of my flex spots this week in every format.

Brandon Zylstra Edmonton Eskimos 4300

This pick is to fill our final flex spot and it's a dandy of a value play at this price. Zylstra is now the #3 option in the passing game in Edmonton, and with Bowman banged up, the Eskimos will be sending even more targets Zylstra's way this week. He became a consistent starter 3 games ago in in that span he caught 17 passes for 245 yards and a TD for an average of 16.8 dk points per game. He's an awesome play at his low price this week.

Also Considered: Derel Walker (cash game headache but great tourney play as he can go off at any time)

D/ST

Montreal Alouettes 4800

Montreal's team as a whole is not very good but their Defence is actually pretty solid. They lead the CFL in forced fumbles with 25, and they scored 13 dk points last week vs the Stampeders which is pretty darned good against the best team in the league. This they face a banged up Hamiton team who already has 2nd place in the East Division locked up and will likely rest their important players.

Also Considered: BC Lions
