GOALIES
Braden Holtby FD - $9700 DK - $8000
Opponent - NYR
Proj Pts FD - 16.9 DK - 4.22
The Caps will be at home on Saturday night and open as big -175 favorites as the Rangers come to town. Holtby led the league with 48 wins a year ago and is picking up where he left off going 2-0-1 early in the season with a very impressive .938 save % against some stiff competition in the Pens, Isles and Panthers. He will look for a fourth solid start tonight and is an elite option in any format.
Cory Schneider FD - $8900 DK - $7600
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 13.16 DK - 3.29
If you are looking to save a bit of salary at the position but looking for similar floor and upside consider Schneider. He doesn't quite the team around him like Holtby but has impressed early in the season with a .938 save % in his first four games despite only picking up one win. The floor is quite as the Devils have allowed 34+ shots in three of his four starts and the upside is there in a home matchup vs. the Wild tonight.
CENTERS
Tyler Seguin FD - $8000 DK - $7500
Opponent - CBJ
Proj Pts FD - 16.75 DK - 5.5
It appears that Seguin is back to full health putting him right near the top of the PTS/$ rankings at the center position. His salary is still very affordable and is actually $200 cheaper than opening night on DraftKings. He comes into tonight with five points in his first four games and paired with Jamie Been makes the top scoring duo in the league. The Stars also get a great matchup vs. teh Blue Jacks who have allowed the 7th most goals per game(3.67) so far this season.
Stack With: Jamie Benn, Ales Hemsky, Jason Spezza(PP)
Victor Rask FD - $5100 DK - $5300
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 11.1 DK - 3.71
You cannot mention value without talking about Victor Rask this season. With a mid tier salary he has been one of the most consistent fantasy players in the early season with a point in each of the Hurricanes first four games(5 total) playing the top line with Skinner and Stempniak and he is also getting top powerplay minutes. Of all centers above $5K on FanDuel he comes with the third highest PTS/$ projection for tonight. Load up in a matchup against the Flyers who have allowed four goals per game.
Stack with: Jeff Skinner, Lee Stempniak
Patrice Bergeron FD - $6400 DK - $7100
Opponent - MON
Proj Pts FD - 13.9 DK - 4.4
He returned to the Bruins lineup last game and recorded a goal on 16.5 minute of ice time. He was back on the top line with the red hot Brad Marchand. The two were paired together with Sidney Crosby on Team Canada at the World Cup and were, by far, the most productive line. Marchand hasn't let up since the regular season kicked off as he has picked up nine points in four games to lead the league. The Bruins get a tough matchup against the Habs tonight and while I will be avoiding them in cash games, I will load up in GPP formats.
Stack with: Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak
WINGERS
Vladimir Tarasenko FD - $7900 DK - $7700
Opponent - CGY
Proj Pts FD - 17.12 DK - 5.55
Tarasenko has been one of the top fantasy players to start the season and will most definitely fight for the scoring title this season. He has scored four goals and added two assists in his first five games and leads the entire league with 26 shots on goal. He gets a great matchup to add his totals tonight in Calgary vs. the Flames who have allowed a whopping 20 goals against in their first five games.
Stack with: Alexander Steen, Jaden Schwartz
Wayne Simmonds FD - $6900 DK - $6200
Opponent - CAR
Proj Pts FD - 11.76 DK - 3.69
The Flyers games are always a great source of fantasy points as they are usually involved in high scoring games. They have a young defense core that is learning the ropes at the top level and will be prone to some high scoring games. Three of their first four games have resulted in the Vegas Total hitting the Over. Tonight could be another one of those games as they face a Carolina team that has a very similar issue on defense. The first place I target is the Flyers top line of Simmonds, Giroux and Schenn who returned from suspension last game.
Stack with: Claude Giroux, Brayden Schenn
Jaromir Jagr FD - $5800 DK - $5000
Opponent - COL
Proj Pts FD - 10.92 DK - 3.33
Back for his 23rd season in the NHL the 44 year old Jagr continues to show he is not only a productive real life player but also a productive and reliable fantasy asset. He has recorded two points in his first four games playing on the Panthers top line and is still getting close to 19 minutes of ice time per game while also playing the top powerplay unit. He comes in under $6K on both sites making a great mid tier value in any format.
Stack with: Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Marchessault
DEFENSEMEN
**Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns both come with elite prices and tougher matchups than usual. They can still be used but I would only recommend for GPP's as there is more risk than usual.**
Justin Faulk FD - $5500 DK - $5700
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 11.63 DK - 3.97
Faulk impressed in a injury shortened season in '15/'16 with 13 powerplay goals and averaged just under a point per game on an awful Hurricanes team. He gets big minutes on the top unit and provides a stable floor with a combination of shots and blocks. He will get a great shot to add to his point total tonight in Philadelphia against the Flyers who have struggled defensively.
Erik Johnson FD - $4600 DK - $5200
Opponent - FLA
Proj Pts FD - 10.34 DK - 3.26
Johnson is one of the top values on the blue line as he provides a very high floor averaging three shots and blocked shots per game. He isn't known for his offensive ability but has already recorded three points in his first four games this season. The mathcup isn't ideal but on a giant slate I love going with two mid tier D options and loading up at goalie or with my stacks.
