It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.
LeSean McCoy
140 yards, 3 TD
McCoy absolutely dominated the 49ers and has continued his dominant start to the season. He has bounced back from a bad 2015 season and looks like he must of fixed something in the off-season. The 49ers continue to be one of the worst rush defenses in the league, and we will look to target them with running backs for the rest of the season. They came into the season with a poor run defense, and have now lost Navarro Bowman. LeSean McCoy will continue to see touches and is running behind a fantastic offensive line.
Odell Beckham Jr.
222 yards, 2 TD
Finally! Odell Beckham is a special talent and we finally saw it come alive for the first time this year. As a Cowboys fan, it is no fun. However, as a football fan, it is awesome. He destroyed the Ravens weak secondary for 222 yards and 2 TD, which is arguably his best performance ever. Looking forward, we might want to actually fade Beckham in some spots. This will vault him back into being very highly owned, and as we know, he can have bad games. As for the Ravens secondary, we don't really know what we have in full. With Shareece Wright and Kendrick Lewis going down, the back-end of the secondary is in shambles. When they return, we will know more. That being said, we should be targeting QB's and WR's for at least the next few weeks.
Golden Tate
165 yards, TD
Golden Tate was supposed to come into this year and be a monster. He was supposed to demand a monstrous amount of targets and put up godl numbers. However, this guy named Marvin Jones was signed, and has catapulted himself into the number 1 WR role. While the depth chart may say different, Jones is the WR1 in Stafford's mind. That being said, Golden Tate is going to have some big games. The defenses will have to pick 1 guy to shut down, which will force Stafford to look the other direction. They took on a very average Rams Pass D that has ranked 17th through the year. How do we use this info to improve next week? Well, the Lions are facing off with the Redskins and with the 'Skins come Josh Norman. Norman usually sticks to a side, so we will have to go through this week and decide which WR will be lined up on the opposite side more than the other. Also, Odell Beckham is facing the Rams, so that could get ugly.
Lamar Miller
149 yards, TD
29 receiving yards, TD
Wow, what a game. The Colts were all over the Texans all night and it looked like the game was in the bag after the 3rd quarter. All of a sudden, Brock Osweiler woke up and started throwing some decent passes. With those, Miller was able to get some holes and get a few huge runs. He also caught an amazing highlight reel TD in the 4th quarter that got the game within 7. He was electric all game, and as predicted, demolished the Colts putrid defense. From now on, I will likely have at least 1 guy who is facing the Colts in my cash games. Next week they are facing the Titans and Demarco Murray will likely be one of the highest owned guys on the slate. Lamar Miller is good, but not this good. We shouldn't expect this from him very often. He has a somewhat difficult schedule, though his involvement in the passing game gives him a decent floor and a huge ceiling.
Notable performances - Ezekiel Elliot, Brandin Cooks, Spencer Ware, Jay Ajayi, Eagles D
We are going to look at some guys that were highly owned and dissapointed. While a bunch of players had tough games, only a few were expected to have a big game.
Antonio Brown
4 rec, 39 yards
Wow, I can't say I predicted Antonio Brown would catch 4 passes for 39 yards. BUT, I did fade him. Reason being two things, Big Ben road splits and the ownership %. Big Ben has huge road splits as he has thrown almost a full TD less on the road over the last 3 seasons. He has also sported a lower yardage total, and similar to Brees, he is just a lot better at home where he is comfortable. It came to fruition and he struggled mightily, until he was eventually knocked out of the game with a torn meniscus. Looking forward, I will likely stay away until Ben is back. Landry Jones has proven his ability and it is not at all exciting.
Jordan Howard
34 yards, TD
While I faded Antonio Brown, I was on board with Jordan Howard. While he wasn't all that bad, it was disappointing with the relative performance when you consider the games that people around his price range had. Howard has been seeing most of the carries, but Kadeem Carey stole a bunch of them this week. The Bears will likely split it even more next week, as Howard did not play nearly as good as Carey. They face a Packers team that is very good against the run and I have no interest in either of them this upcoming week. Do not let the Ezekiel Elliot performance change your mind on the Packers. The Cowboys run game is a different monster.
We didn't really see many 15+ % owned guys stink it up this week. A lot of teams scored a lot of points and that isn't something we will see every week. Don't take it for granted. There will probably be 10 names here next week. That's just how it works.
