Match-up - Trevor Bauer vs. Marcus Stroman
This game is very meh to me, especially when looking at the pitchers. Both of these offenses are very lethal and I am not a fan of targeting them with right handed pitching. Trevor Bauer is the worst pitcher on the slate, so I will be steering clear away from him. Stroman, however, deserves some consideration. Stroman has held a .311 wOBA against both righties and lefties, and looks to have plenty of upside. The Indians are a pretty god offense, bu can strikeout on occasion and offer a bit of upside from Stroman. The Rogers Centre is a hitter friendly park, which also gives a tick down to both pitchers.
Nobody on either of these offenses are in a great spot. Nobody is in a bad spot, either. All of these guys are viable plays in tournaments, and I think there are some guys you can play in cash games as well. Carlos Santana and Jason Kipnis are my favorite Indians hitters, as they maul righties and are not reliant on power. On the flip side, Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion are my favorite guys. They are viable in both cash games and tournaments. You can roster Jose Bautista and Troy Tulowitzki in both cash games and tournaments as well. In conclusion, all of the bats are in play here, but there is nobody that stands out as a must play.
Match-up - Jake Arrieta vs. Rich Hill
Here we go, an exciting match up between the Cubs and Dodgers, who are tied up at 1-1 in the series. This match up of Jake Arrieta and Rich Hill is an interesting one, as both guys have a ton of upside, but Hill definitely has a lot more risk. Arrieta is the safest cash game play on the slate. He has sported a .291 wOBA that is backed up by a tremendous set of peripherals and batted ball rates. The Dodgers strikeout a good amount, with guy like Joc Pederson and Josh Reddick having some of the highest K % in the league. Hill on the other hand, is a tournament option. The Cubs are an amazing offense, and I do expect them to get back on track after being shutout by Kershaw and Jansen. However, they could go cold and in that case, Hill could have a huge game. The Cubs strikeout a ton, but also hit a lot of home runs and score a ton of runs.
There is not too much interest here for me. I definitely prefer the other game if I am taking some bats. However, there are a few Cubs guys that I am willing to look at. Kris Bryant and Javier Baez are my favorite of the bunch. They both destroy lefties and have the power to send one out of Dodgers Stadium, which is a pitchers park. You could also get sneaky with Anthony Rizzo, as he will be very low owned and hits lefties extremely well. There are gonna be 2 or 3 homers from this Cubs team, and they will more than likely come from the heart of the lineup. If I was forced to take a Dodgers bat, I would go ith Joc Pederson due to his HR upside, though he is only in play in tournaments.
