Daily Fantasy MLB Hitter Stacks FanDuel & DraftKings 10/1/16
Welcome to our daily article breaking down some of the other stacking targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article and pitching breakdown but here we will look at other dudes to consider.
In case you didn’t notice, on Saturday we released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.
A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Stack Targets
Early Slate
New York Mets vs. Phil Klein (PHI)
The pressure is on. Teams are fighting for postseason spots. Jobs are on the line. You're giving it all you got left in the tank. Emotions are higher than ever. It's October baseball baby! Happy October everyone! So without further ado, lets dive into my top three stacks of the day!
First on the list are the New York Mets. They will be going up against Phil Klein, who has an ERA over 8. Although, It's not fair to judge him based on that, you have to admit -- 8 is a very intriguing number.
He's only got one MLB start under his belt and the rest of his appearances came out of the pen. So I see this becoming a bullpen game for the 'Phils, which is also why I'm on this Mets' squad. The Phillies' bullpen has been one of the worst in the league, as they are sporting a 5.04 ERA (3rd-worst in MLB).
The Mets are fighting to maintain their postseason hopes alive and have a beautiful matchup, which is why I'm all over these guys tonight.
My top 4 guys to stack: Jay Bruce, Jose Reyes, Yoenis Cespedes and Asdrubal Cabrera.
Main Slate
Detroit Tigers vs. Aaron Blair (DET)
I'm not sure if it's happy pick on NL East pitchers day or Happy stack guys battling for a Wild Card spot, but whatever the case may be -- I love me some Tigers tonight.
I'm going to be real honest with you -- the Tigers have by far the best matchup on the slate, and it's not even close. They'll be going up against Aaron Blair, who has an ERA over 8 and an xFIP over 6. Trust me, I'm not making it up. The northpaw has had a rough 2016, which is one reason why I love the Tigers. So what exactly is the other reason, Nick. Well, it's how hot this Tigers' squad is. Honestly, if you were to shake Miguel Cabrera's hand, you're hand would probably burn off. Not only that, but when steps up to the plate, you see his bat in flames. That's how hot he is right now. Not only is he hot, but so is the entire squad. Over the last two weeks of the season, this squad leads the league in ISO, wOBA and wRC+, which is another reason why I love them. They are fighting for a Wildcard spot, so look for them to leave it all on the field tonight.
My top 4 guys to stack: Miguel Cabrera, Ian Kinsler, J.D. Martinez and Justin Upton.
San Diego Padres vs. Archie Bradley (ARI)
Alright-Alright-Alright! I know the Padres aren't in the playoff hunt, but they have the next best thing. A bunch of young, hungry guys who are trying to prove to the organization that they deserve to be on the 2017 playoff contending Padres' squad. Why are you laughing? When 2017 hits, it's a new year and everyone starts in first place. So don't laugh, they have a chance to contend next year. So does every team out there!
The Padres get a huge ballpark boost playing at Chase Field and have a beautiful matchup. They'll be going up against Archie Bradley, who has struggled mightily this season. He's sporting a 36.6 hard-hit%, 5.15 ERA and a 11.0 BB%. He gets hit very hard and if he's not getting hit hard, he's giving up a free pass. The Padres are in a great spot and I see their young guys taking advantage of the ballpark boost.
My top 4 guys to stack: Hunter Renfroe, Manuel Margot, Wil Myers and Alex Dickerson.
