Welcome to our daily fantasy baseball stacks article. Below we will be providing our favorite team stacks for tournament play based on projections from our lineup optimizer. To see all of our value picks for the day check out our Main Article.
In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.
A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Colorado Rockies vs. Brent Suter (Brewers)
Park - Coors Field
With my last regular season article you had to know I was going to kick it off with the Rockies. You will most likely see them twice more as well as it will be the final time to get exposure to Coors Field with Rockies nowhere close to the playoffs. The problem this season has been their play on the road but no need to get into that as they will be at home for the final three games where it comes as no surprise they lead the league in Isolated Power(.219) and wOBA(.377). They get a matchup vs. Suter who has spent his last 12 appearances as a reliever where he has not allowed an earned run. It's the same old story for a pitcher making the move back into the rotation. If he makes it even a few innings deep he is going to face the lineup more than once which he has not done since early August where the Mariners touched him up for four earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched. He will now be starting in the worst pitchers park in the big leagues. All aboard!
Elite Options - Nolan Arenado, Carlos Gonzalez, DJ Lemahieu, Charlie Blackmon
Value Options - Nick Hundley, Ryan Raburn
San Diego Padres vs. Braden Shipley (Diamondbacks)
Park - Chase Field
I am going to attack the second highest total of the day but will side with the road team in this one. They come in as underdogs in this one but are still projected for close to five runs and could be very under owned on a night with a matchup in Coors Field. It's been a long season for the Padres as they sit just ahead of the D Backs in the basement of the NL West. They are putting their best effort forward and have been hot over the last seven days with a .336 wOBA and 111 wRC+. They get a nice matchup vs. rookie Braden Shipley who has struggled to miss bats in the big leagues with a low 5.54 K/9 rate and 4.97 xFIP. They are giving a ton of opportunities to the young player such as Hunter Renfroe who has impressed in his first 27 plate appearances as he has picked up four home runs and added 12 RBI to go with a .346 average. To try and win a big tournament tonight I like stacking the lower owned team like the Padres and sprinkling in some Coors bats.
Elite Options - Wil Myers, Yangervis Solarte, Hunter Renfroe
Value Options - Manuel Margot, Alex Dickerson
Kansas City Royals vs. Ryan Merritt (Indians)
Park - Kauffman Stadium
The defending World Series champions have disappointed in 2016, for the most part due to their poor play on the road and below league average pitching. The bats, for the most part, have not been the issue especially against left handed pitching this season where they come into Friday night with a Top 10 wOBA(3.27) and wRC+(101). They are also red hot over the last seven days scoring 34 runs in their last five games and get a matchup against a rookie pitcher making his first career start. Merritt didn't exactly impress at the Triple -A level this season with 11-8 record and 3.70 ERA while striking out less than six batters per nine. I don't expect that K.9 rate to jump at the major league level and expect a short outing from him tonight as the Royals should be able to get to him early on.
Elite Options - Paulo Orlando, Kendrys Morales, Alex Gordon
Value Options - Jarrod Dyson, Whit Merrifield
