Daily Fantasy MLB Pitcher Breakdown FanDuel and DraftKings- 9/29/16

In case you didn’t notice, we just released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. It’s a set of tools well beyond anything we’ve ever had, and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebook on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Pitching Targets

Chris ArcherChris Archer FD 9500 DK 9100
Opponent - CHW (Quintana) Park - @CHW
FD - 32.56 DK - 21.61

We touched on Johnny Cueto and Julio Urias in the main picks article, and will now touch on a few more arms that can be considered in your cash games and/or tournaments. Archer is going to be the first guy we look at, and he will be constricted to a tournament play only. He has been very up and down this year, though his underlying peripherals have been exceptional. Archer has held a  sub .310 wOBA against righties and lefties, with some numbers to back it up. With a 10.5 K/9 and a 17% HR/FB rate, it is pretty clear to see how Archer has been getting unlucky. The HR/FB rate almost always goes back down towards 10, which means he will give up a lot less homers. He will be facing off with the White Sox, who have struggled mightily against right handed pitching. They have the 7th worst wOBA in the league at .310, alongside a set of pitiful peripherals and batted ball rates. While U.S. Cellular Field is a batters park, it will not matter if Archer is on his game. I am only recommending Archer for tournaments, though I could see the merit in cash games if Abreu or Frazier were to sit the game out.

Alexander ReyesAlexander Reyes FD 5700 DK 0
Opponent - CIN (Straily) Park - @STL
FD - 29.35 DK - 18.89

Alex Reyes is way too cheap. If he was $8000, nobody would be talking about him. Reyes is a huge minor league prospect and as we know, most Cardinals prospects end up being pretty good. He has been phenomenal in the minors, and though rare, I do expect him to carry it over to the majors. He throws the ball hard, has movement and has the stamina to play in the majors. I have watched Reyes play in real life, and his pitches move like an ace. He is facing off with the Reds, who have been one of the worst teams in the league on the road. On the road, the Reds have sported the 2nd worst wOBA in the league at .298. Busch Stadium is definitely a pitchers ballpark, so Reyes has that advantage as well. While he is obviously risky, I could definitely see myself playing him in a few cash games tonight. He has a decent strikeout floor and lets you pay up at a ton of other positions.
