Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers for FanDuel & DraftKings 9/17/16

Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article but here we will look at other dudes to consider.

In case you didn’t notice, on Saturday we released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Using tools like these for the NFL season is crucial and you can grab a free trial to test out yourself.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Jake Arrieta and Jeff Samardzija in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.

Pitching Targets

David Price FD 10600 DK 11600
Opponent - NYY (Mitchell) Park - @BOS
FD - 37.81 DK - 24.69

Mmmmm... Where should I start.... I'll go ahead and start off by talking about Vegas. The Red Sox are heavily favored to win this game, and when I say "heavily" I mean it. It's a -285 money line on their side and I understand why. David Price is on the bump for the the Red Sox today and he's been phenomenal as of late. In his last five outings, he's sporting a 0.72 WHIP along with a 29.3 K% and 2.00 ERA. He's been the dominant David Price we've seen in the past and I don't see the Bombers slowing him down.

Another reason why the money line is ridiculously high is because Bryan Mitchell is pitching for the Yankees. He only has two MLB starts under his belt, and going to Fenway to pitch against this loaded lineup is never an easy task. I expect Price to have some run support and to keep his hot-streak going. Arrieta will be the chalk play of the day, but I really like Price in all formats as well.

Yu Darvish FD 10800 DK 12200
Opponent - OAK (Alcantara) Park - @TEX
FD - 36.94 DK - 23.97

This guy is an absolute force when he's on the hill. I know he hasn't pitched much this season, but in his 82 innings of work, he's been a beast!

In those 82 innings, he owns a 30.1 K% to go along with a 3.36 xFIP and 74.7 LOB%. He's a guy you roster in your DFS squads based on his peripherals, but I also like his matchup, which makes things even better! He'll be going up against the A's today. Poor A's. They have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league this season and have struggled -- [yet again] this past month. They own a .137 ISO (29th in MLB) along with a .301 wOBA (26th in MLB). They've had trouble hitting for power and average, which is why I'm all over Yu tonight. He's got a nice floor and a Clayton Kershaw type ceiling.

Francisco Liriano FD 7400 DK 8700
Opponent - LAA (Nolasco) Park - @LAA
FD - 30.18 DK - 19.75

I've given you two high-priced studs that are on the bump, so I thought I'd go ahead and give you a cheaper option/tournament play. And the person who fits the criteria is southpaw, Francisco Liriano.

He will be going up against the Angels today. Yes, they don't strike out a whole lot, but this is still a nice matchup for the veteran. In the last 14 days, the Angels have had one of worst offenses. They are boasting a .281 wOBA (30th in MLB) along with a 77 wRC+ (29th in MLB) and .137 ISO (24th in MLB). Do you now see why I'm rolling with Liriano in GPPs? He's going up against a team that struggles and has been putting in some work of his own. In his last 5 starts, he owns a 29.1 K% along with a 3.26 ERA. Liriano is cheap and in the perfect spot to deliver a quality start.
