Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Jorge De La Rosa (Rockies)
Park - Chase Field
The Diamondbacks are a team that really go after left handers. I look for them to give Jorge De La Rosa a very tough time tonight. Jorge De La Rosa, while he used to be good, has now hit a wall and is beginning to go down. He has sported a .360 wOBA against both lefties and righties that is backed up by a ton of peripherals and batted ball rates. The Diamondbacks offer a few guys that have a ton of upside, and I think you need to get some exposure in both tournaments and cash games. The D-backs may be a little highly owned, so there is definitely merit in using the sneaky stack. The Diamondbacks are priced very nicely across the board on both sites.
Main Stack - Paul Goldschmidt, Welington Castillo, Yasmany Tomas, Jean Segura
Sneaky Stack - Paul Goldschmidt, Welington Castillo, Chris Owings, Brandon Drury
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Drew Smyly (Rays)
Park - Rogers Centre
The Toronto Blue Jays are a fantastic stack tonight, and they may go under owned. I expect the ownership rates to be low as Drew Smyly is a guy that people tend to regard as a very good pitcher. While he is a pretty good pitcher, he struggles with 2 things. Those 2 things are righties and giving up the long ball. Those are also the 2 biggest strengths of the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays offense can be very spread out, so I do see the merit in playing the sneaky stack. I do like them more on DraftKings, as a home run is a bit more valuable.
Main Stack - Devon Travis, Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion
Sneaky Stack - Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Troy Tulowitzki, Melvin Upton Jr.
