A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Max Scherzer and Jonathan Gray in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.
Pitching Targets
Rich Hill FD 9200 DK 11300
Opponent - MIA (Koehler) Park - @MIA
FD - 36.01 DK - 23.59
Rich Hill is a guy I'd throw in tournaments, as we have a ton of great pitching options and he might be overlooked. He'll be going up against a Marlins' club that has struggled mightily over the last two weeks, as they own a .284 wOBA (26th in MLB) and .126 ISO (25th in MLB). This ball club has fallen apart and has not been to hit as of late, which is why I'm a fan of Hill's.
Besides the appealing matchup, Hill is a guy that provides us a ton upside. He is boasting a 28.5 K% to go along with a 1.03 WHIP and 3.56 xFIP. The veteran has been stellar this year, so go ahead and plug him into some of your lineups.
Felix Hernandez FD 9900 DK 8500
Opponent - OAK (Graveman) Park - @OAK
FD - 32.28 DK - 21.46
I know Hernandez has looked bad in his last two starts, but we need to give him a pass. They were against the red-hot Texas Rangers and it's never easy to go up against the same team twice. So take it easy on the former Cy-Young award winner and let me tell you why I like the northpaw.
Yes, King Felix's walks are high and strikeout percentage doesn't hit 20%, but that doesn't matter to me. I love his matchup; it's that simple. He'll be going up against the Oakland A's, which provides him with a gorgeous matchup. Not only have they had a rough time against right-handed pitchers all year, but they have also struggled as of late. In their last 14 contests, they own a 0.96 ISO (30th in MLB) and .252 wOBA (29th in MLB), which is just awful! Those numbers are real bad and I expect Felix Hernandez to have a big bounce-back game tonight. You also have to love his Draftkings price! Wow that is one good-looking price tag. Go and do your thing, King Felix
Adam Wainwright FD 8500 DK 8100
Opponent - MIL (Anderson) Park - @STL
FD - 32.63 DK - 20.27
It seems like I'm a fan of all the veteran pitchers today. Wainwright is last on my list and he's in a very similar situation as Felix Hernandez. Yes, Wainwright is another veteran who just doesn't have the same stuff he once had, but he's got a nice price tag and matchup, which is why I'll roll the dice on him.
He will be pitching at home and Vegas is a huge fan of the Cardinals tonight (-200 money line). Not only that, but he will also be going up against a Brewers' club that has also had some troubles hitting the baseball as of late. In their last 30 games, they are sporting a .248 AVG (26th in MLB) along with a 24.4 K% (4th in MLB). This matchup gives Wainwright some upside and is a nice value play today along with King Felix.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

Ummm have u watched the Brewers over the past week? They have been absolutely crushing the ball. Garcia was chalk on Thursday, Martinez was chalk last night and they both got rocked. Smart move today is to take Brewers and stack them in a few GPP rather than pitching Wainwright!
Yes I have. Garcia got rocked, but Martinez pitched 7 innings with 1 ER. He delivered a quality start and picked up the W.
Matt, have you done your homework on Waino and the Brewers in the past? I agree with the write and do agree the Brewers would be a big Tourney play.
Go with ur gut!!!
@Matt Michaels Ummm…they’re still the Brewers. Statistics over a long period of time far exceed a couple of games. If you generally construct daily lineups based on the performance of the player’s or team’s last few games instead of long term statistics, you are probably in the hole more than you’d admit on the season. How did the Wainwright fade/Brewers stack work out for ya?
