Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers for FanDuel & DraftKings 9/3/16

Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article but here we will look at other dudes to consider.

In case you didn’t notice, on Saturday we released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.

Using tools like these for the NFL season is crucial and you can grab a free 2 WEEK trial to test out yourself.

A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Pitching Targets

Note: We discussed Vincent Velasquez and Ivan Nova in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.

Pitching Targets

Marco Estrada FD 8000 DK 8600
Opponent - TB (Archer) Park - @TB
FD - 24.32 DK - 16.22

I know this isn't a picture of Marco Estrada, so don't tear me apart in the comments section below.

We have a ton of options on the early slate; Archer, Arrieta, Keauchal and Bumgarner. With all those options, I somehow ended up with Estrada in my lineups. And here's why:

Estrada has been everything the Blue Jays had hoped for, and more. On the year, he's sporting a 1.08 and 3.37 ERA. Those are very impressive numbers, especially since he's in the toughest division in the league (AL East). Not only does his WHIP and ERA impress me, but the fact that opponents own a .199 AVG against the northpaw, just [shocked] me. My jaw honestly dropped, so it's safe to say that number is very attractive. His numbers are one reason why I'm plugging Estrada into my lineups, so lets move on to the next.

And the next reason why I'll be using him is because of his matchup. Sure, the Rays rank 15th in wOBA and wRC+ this season against righties (15th is smack in the middle), but going up against this Rays' ball club gives Estrada some upside. They own a 23.6 K% against right-handed pitchers, which is [4th-highest] in the league. Estrada does a little fanning of his own with a 22.3 K%, but this gives him the extra juice he needs to rack up those K's!

What more could you ask for? He's cheap, has upside, solid matchup and pitching at a pitcher-friendly park. He's my guy for GPPs.

Rick Porcello FD 10000 DK 11700
Opponent - OAK (Neal) Park - @OAK
FD - 31.12 DK - 20.53

This is my cash-game play for the main slate, and it's not even close. He'll be going up against an Oakland squad that has not been able to solve right-handed pitchers. They own a .300 wOBA (27th in MLB) and a .147 ISO (24th in MLB) against them this season. Your jaw dropped already? Wait 'till you hear this then..... As bad as the A's have been this season, they've been even worse these past two weeks. They own a 24.8 K% along with a .260 wOBA and .108 ISO. They are fanning left-and-right and can't hit the baseball. This doesn't get any better for Porcello, oh wait -- it does. He'll also get the privilege of leaving Fenway, to head over to the Oakland Coliseum (one of the friendliest parks to pitchers). It doesn't get much better than this from a matchup standpoint, so go do your thing, Porcello.

Trevor Bauer FD 8200 DK 8100
Opponent - MIA (Fernandez) Park - @CLE
FD - 32 DK - 20.56

I know I know -- Bauer will be going up against Jose Fernandez, but who cares! This is an excellent matchup for Bauer, so we have to take advantage! He'll be facing a Stanton-less and Ozuna-less ballclub. Not only that, but they have also struggled as of late. In their last 14 contests, they own a .069 IS0 (not a typo) along with a .269 wOBA and 64 wRC+. In other words -- they've been [bad].

Not only have the Marlins been bad, but Bauer has also been excellent. In his last five outings, he's boasting a 2.45 ERA along with a 1.12 WHIP. We all know the upside this kid has and pitching at home against a struggling offense should help him out. Nothing more we could ask for from a pitcher, so makes us proud, Bauer.

  • Just curious... why is it that sometimes you get the player picture wrong and acknowledge that it's wrong? Are you forced to enter in an image even if it's not the right one? If so, why not just have a generic "no photo available" and not have to apologize for it?

  • Its great to see Fantasy Sports teams bring great results, as it proves the fantasy sports league is in demand!
