Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article but here we will look at other dudes to consider.
In case you didn’t notice, on Saturday we released our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and Player Lab which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings. It’s a robust set of tools; well beyond anything we’ve ever had and something we feel will help our users *ahem* tackle the NFL season.
Using tools like these for the NFL season is crucial and you can grab a free 2 WEEK trial to test out yourself.
A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Jose Fernandez and Carlos Martinez in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.
Pitching Targets
Opponent - PIT (Cole) Park - @CHC

Jake Arrieta is pitching at home ladies and gentlemen! He's a different animal when pitching at home, so go ahead and give him a shot in tournaments.
On the year, Arrieta has been killing it at Wrigley. He's boasting a 2.18 ERA to go along with a 3.37 xFIP and 29.6 K%. Not only are those numbers mind-blowing, but opponents are also hitting .180 against him (not a typo). Opponents aren't even hitting .200! I guess it's safe to say you can never go wrong with this ace when he's on the bump, especially when pitching at Wrigley.
Not only does he have the ballpark in his favor, but he'll also be going up against the Pirates. Yes, the Pirates are in the playoff hunt, but they have been struggling to get anything going offensively. In their last 14 games, they own a .303 wOBA (24th in MLB) along with a .138 ISO (25th in MLB). They haven't gotten the bats going as of late, so I expect Arrieta to give us another Arrieta outing. He's an excellent tournament play today, as I don't expect his ownership percentages to be very high.
Opponent - SEA (Iwakuma) Park - @TEX
FD - 36.6 DK - 24.05
[Yu] need help finding a GPP pitcher? Trust [Yu] first instinct and go with [Yu] Darvish. He'll be another guy that won't be highly owned, but has as much upside as any pitcher in the game. [Yu] don't believe me? Then lets take a look at his peripherals.
On the year, Darvish has been killing it. He owns a 30.3 K% to go along with a 2.91 ERA and 3.36 xFIP. Do [Yu] believe me now? This guy is an absolute beast and could easily be the guy that ends up with the most fantasy points on the night. You especially got to love his K%. That just yells upside to me.
Today, he'll be going up against a Mariners' offense that has had troubles on offense as of late. In their last 14 contests, they also own a .303 wOBA. Just like the Pirates! They are another team that has gone quiet on offense, so I will definitely have exposure to Arrieta and Darvish. I assume Darvish's ownership will be even lower than Arrieta's, so go ahead and roll the guy you're more comfortable with. Trust [Yu] heart.
Opponent - TB (Andriese) Park - @BOS
FD - 34.8 DK - 23.04
The theme of todays picks has been "follow [Yu] heart," so I'll do just that with my next pick. And next on the list is Rick Porcello. Man -- this guy has become a whole new different person out there. Sometimes I wonder if that's his twin brother on the mound or a robot. Whatever the case may be, his name is still Porcello and has been great this season.
This season, Porcello or his [twin brother] own a 1.05 WHIP (better than Darvish and Arrieta), 3.23 ERA and a 16.18 K-BB% (better than Arrieta). This guy is a nice option if you're trying to save a bit of money for bats (on Fanduel).
Not only has he been great for the Red Sox, but he also draws an excellent matchup. He'll be going up against a Rays' offense that fans like crazy against righties, as they own a whooping 23.7 K% (4th in MLB). This gives him some major upside and having Vegas on his side means that he has a better chance of picking up the win. Man, I really like Porcello's brother a lot -- I mean, Rick Porcello. Whoops...
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

Do you prefer Porcello or Martinez as the cash game pitcher as they are both same price? I know you talked up a lot about Porcello in the podcast.
Thx
Same price i will go with Porcello. Been money this year
Want a bargain basement deal? Play Maeda @Coors. Don't kknow why, but Japanese Pitchers are always amazing there.
Good call David...good night to fade Coors in my opinion.
