Daily Fantasy MLB Pitcher Breakdown FanDuel and DraftKings- 8/26/16

Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. We covered our system's top value plays in our daily picks article and our updates articles but here we will look at other dudes to consider.

Paying up for Sale could very well become a contrarian play tonight with so many value options at the position. While he has seen a decline in the strikeout rate this season he has improved on his ERA(3.15 in 2016) and has put up his highest win total since 2012. He rebounded nicely in his last start going eight innings, allowing just three hits to the Athletics while striking out eight batters. Things are really starting to trend in the right direction lately as he has recorded a K rate North of nine in four straight and six of his last eight games. The White Sox are early -125 favorites in the lowest projected total of the day facing the Mariners who rank 18th in wOBA agaisnt southpaws with a 21% K rate. He is more of a GPP play today but with the combination of low game total, possible lower ownership and opportunity he makes sense in all formats.

First of all I stress that the Shark is not a safe pick in cash games with his below average K rate and 4.25 xFIP this season. He does however make a nice GPP option in a home matchup where the Giants are huge -215 favorites vs. the Braves who rank 29th in wOBA and wRC+ against right handed pitching. Shark has been decent lately limiting opponents to three earned runs or less in three straight starts whle allowing just 12 hits and striking out 15 batters. For the lack of strikeout upside his price is a bit high on DraftKings today but on FanDuel where the win is huge, he makes perfect sense today.
