Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Felix Hernandez and Max Scherzer in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.
Pitching Targets
Opponent - OAK (Detwiler) Park - @CHW
FD - 37.06 DK - 24.3
Felix Hernandez and Max Scherzer will be the focus on tonight's slate, but don't sleep on southpaw, Chris Sale! This kid is pretty darn good! On the year, the southpaw is boasting a 24.5 K%, 1.04 WHIP and 3.74 xFIP. Sale has had another great year with the White Sox this season, and has an intriguing matchup going up against the Athletics.
While the A's don't strikeout a whole lot (under 20% on the year), this is still a great matchup for Sale. In the last two weeks, the A's own a .294 wOBA and .84 wRC+, which both rank 27th during that span. They have also struggled offensively all season long, so go ahead and use Sale in some GPP's. A K% under 20 is never a good thing, but hey -- the Braves also strikeout under 20% (Scherzer's matchup) and Sale does own a 24.5 K%! Do your thing, Mr. Sale!
Opponent - SD (Richard) Park - @SD
FD - 34.52 DK - 22.7
Robbie Ray is an excellent GPP play of the day! He get's a huge park boost, heading from Arizona to San Diego, which will certainly help him out. The other thing I love about Ray today is his matchup. He will be going up against the Padres, which is a team that's top five in K% on the year. Not only does he have that to his advantage, but Robbie Ray and his 3.40 xFIP, also do a little fanning of their own. Since 2014, Ray owns a 24.7 K%. His ceiling is very high, so if you're trying to fit in some big bats in tournaments tonight, Ray could be the guy for you.
Opponent - NYM (Colon) Park - @SF
FD - 35.13 DK - 21.68
Another cheap option you could go with tonight is southpaw, Matt Moore. The trend for me has been southpaws in this article, so I might as well keep it going.
Moore is pitching at home and draws an intriguing matchup against the Mets. In the last 14 days, the Mets own a .302 wOBA and 90 wRC+ (which both rank 25th in MLB). The Mets have struggled offensively, which is why I don't mind rolling with this southpaw for tournaments. If he can contain the free passes in this contest, I expect him to deliver a quality start.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
