Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Washington Nationals vs. Tyrell Jenkins (ATL)

I won't be touting the obvious Coors plays in this article, instead I will give you three other stacking options that I'm looking to target on tonight's slate. And it all starts with the Nationals.

Tyrell Jenkins owns a -4.4 K-BB% and 6.04 xFIP on the year! He's been horrible this season, which is why I am all over this Nationals' squad. Not only is Jenkins bad, but this Nats' offense is pretty good as well. In the last 30 days, they own a .330 wOBA (5th in MLB) and 107 wRC+ (7th in MLB). Not very often you see a starter with an xFIP and SIERA over six, which is why I'm in love with the Nats'.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Clayton Richard (SD)

Talk about another stack I really like tonight! I'm all over the D'backs tonight.

They will be going up against Clayton Richard, who has struggled so far this season. On the year, he's sporting an ERA, FIP and xFIP all over 5, to go along with a 1.0 K-BB%. He's had trouble-keeping runners off of the base paths (1.97 WHIP), which sets up the D'backs nicely. I know Richards has only thrown 20 innings in the big leagues, but it has not gone his way so far.

The D'backs smash lefties, which is another reason why I'm all over them. They own the highest wOBA and ISO against left-handed pitchers this season, so it only makes sense to stack them. We have all seen what this offense is capable of, so I will go ahead and stack them against Richards and the Padres' bullpen.

My top 4 guys to stack: Paul Goldschmidt, Rickie Weeks .Jr, Jean Segura and Yasmany Tomas.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Mike Fiers (BAL)

[Wow], this Astros-Orioles game last night looked like a football game with the final score of 15-8. And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Orioles put up more than 5 runs today going up against Mike Fiers.

I have an interesting take on this stack:

The Orioles showcase a righty-heavy lineup on a daily basis, and I expect it to work against Fiers. For his career, righties have hit Fiers better, as opposed to lefties. The other reason why I feel like this will work is because the majority of the Orioles' righties have have more success against righties, as opposed to lefties. (Machado, Jones and Schoop) This Orioles' lineup possesses a lot of power; so don't be surprised if they put on another show tonight.
