Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Miami Marlins vs. Dan Straily (Reds)
Park - Great American Ballpark
There are no offenses that really stick out like crazy, though there are a few of them in very good spots. One of them being the Miami Marlins, who will be taking on Dan Straily in the hitter friendly Great American Ballpark. While Straily isn't a total gas can, he does struggle a ton vs both lefties and righties. While his wOBA portrays him as a decent pitcher, the xFIP tells a completely different story as it sits at over 4.5 against both sides of the plate. When you factor in the Great American Ballpark, he is going to have some trouble against this offense. The Marlins recently lost Stanton for the year and while that is a huge hit, it gives some other guys a big opportunity to produce. While I don't think you really need to go crazy here, there is always a ton of merit to do so in tournaments.
Main stack - Dee Gordon, Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Derek Dietrich
Sneaky stack - Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, J.T. Realmuto, Ichiro Suzuki
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Paul Clemens (Padres)
Park - Petco Park
While I surely wish this game wasn't in Petco Park, the Diamondbacks power guys have the ability to hit it out anywhere. Against righties, The Diamondbacks have sported a .161 ISO to go along with 91 home runs. Paul Clemens on the other hand, is a journeyman that has been absolutely horrible against right handers. While a very small sample size, the sample we have is not very good. In 17 innings, he has given up 8 home runs backed up by a .433 wOBA and a 41% hard contact rate. In previous years, he has been worse against lefties so I am expecting those numbers to go back to normal. If you want to stack a low owned team that has a ton of boom potential, I would take a long hard look at these Arizona Diamondbacks. While I will not entertain the sneak stack, I love it in large field tourneys.
Main stack - Paul Goldschmidt, Jacob Lamb, Yasmany Tomas, Welington Castillo
Sneaky stack - Jean Segura, Michael Bourn, Paul Goldschmidt, Yasmany Tomas, Welington Castillo
