Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Stack Targets
Boston Red Sox vs. Patrick Corbin (Diamondbacks)
Park - Fenway Park
The Red Sox make an elite stacking option tonight as they come in as early -240 home favorites and currently are projected to score just under six runs. They definitely need the offense to get back on track tonight as they have lost four of their last five games and have fallen to three games back in the American League East division. Despite the struggles they remain the only team in the majors to score 600+ runs this season and rank 3rd in wOBA(.345) and wRC+(112) vs. left handed pitching. The Red Sox get an elite matchup vs. Patrick Corbin who is going through one of his worst stretches of the season. Over his last five starts he has shown nice K upside(10.08 K/9) but it comes at the expense of an atrocious walk rate(5.76 BB/9) and 4.70 xFIP.
Red Sox Top Stacking Options - Mookie Betts, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts, David Ortiz
Red Sox Value Options - Sandy Leon, Aaron Hill
Cincinnati Reds vs. Jimmy Nelson (Brewers)
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Homer Bailey (Reds)
Park - Miller Park
Based on the pitchers going head to head in this matchup a Vegas Total of 8.5 seems extremely low. I don't always full game stack but when I do it's with a great hitters park and two awful pitchers. Jimmy Nelson is pitching to a 4.80 xFIP this season and comes into tonight having lost four straight starts while giving up 16 earned runs and not making into the 6th inning in any start. It's been a tough year for the Reds but the offense has been clicking lately scoring seven runs four times over their last nine games.
Reds Top Stacking Options - Joey Votto, Adam Duvall, Brandon Phillips, Billy Hamilton
Reds Value Stacking Options - Zack Cozart, Scott Schebler
On the other side of the ball the Brewers also making a top stacking option against Homer Bailey. After a solid start in his return from Tommy John he was blasted for eight hits and seven earned runs in just 3 innings vs. the Pirates. It is going to take some time to find that comfort level and today most likely won't be a positive step forward. The Brewers do strike out a ton vs. right handed pitching but can also blow up the score sheet. They are coming off an 11 run outburst against the Braves last night which was the second double digit run total in less than a week.
Brewers Top Stacking Options - Ryan Braun, Jonathan Villar, Chris Carter, Scooter Gennett
Brewers Value Stacking Options - Keon Broxton, Hernan Perez, Kirk Nieuwenhuis
