Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Texas Rangers vs. Chad Bettis (Rockies)
Park - Globe Life Park in Arlington

In the early slate, there are 2 offenses I am going to be looking at. The first of which being the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are a very powerful offense, though their production is very spread out. They will be taking on Chad Bettis, a right handed youngster that has struggled against both lefties and righties. Against righties, Bettis has sported a .353 wOBA that is backed up by a 4.14 xFIP and a 36.1% hard contact rate. The Rangers as a whole have hit righties well on the year with a .320 wOBA and a .169 ISO. While the park isn't nearly as friendly as Coors Field, it is not too far off. While I don't think I will do it, there is merit tousing a sneaky stack here in a large field tournaments.

Main stack - Shin-Soo Choo, Ian Desmond, Carlos Beltran, Rougned Odor

Sneaky stack - Adrian Beltre, Rougned Odor, Jonathan Lucroy, Mitch Moreland

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Roberto Hernandez (Braves)
Park - Miller Park

The Brewers are going to be the second and more sneaky stack I take a look at in the early slate. While I like the Rangers more in general, the prices and projected ownership rates make it very close. The Brewers will be taking on Robert Hernandez, a right handed gas can that has been one of the worst pitchers in the league for 3 years now. With Vegas projecting the Brewers for over 4.80 runs, you can expect some nice production. TO go along with the great match up, the Brewers will be at home in one of the best parks in the league for right handed power. While I definitely prefer the Rangers, I do not mind the Brewers if you are trying to be different.

Main stack - Jonathan Villar, Orlando Arcia, Ryan Braun, Chris Carter

Sneaky stack - Ryan Braun, Hernan Perez, Chris Carter, Scooter Gennett

Cleveland Indians vs. Jhoulys Chacin (Angels)
Park - Progressive Field

the Cleveland Indians are going to be my favorite stack of the night as they will be taking on Jhoulys Chacin, at home in a hitter friendly ballpark. While not atrocious, Chacin has been bad against both sides of the plate and there is no reason to think that is going to change anytime soon. Against both lefties and righties, Chacin has sported a .334 combined wOBA that is backed up by supporting peripherals and batted ball rates. The Indians as a whole have hit righties extremely well with a .329 wOBA that is baked up by a 33% hard contact rate and a great K/BB ratio. While I'm not sure necessary, there is always merit in playing a sneaky stack with some guys that will be lesser owned. As a note, the order of the lineup is going to cause a huge decision in my thought process. When stacking, you want to make sure your guys are in a complimentary lineup spot to the other that you rostered.

Main stack - Carlos Santana, Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez

Sneaky stack - Jason Kipnis, Mike Napoli, Lonnie Chisenhall, Tyler Naquin
