Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Stephen Strasburg and Danny Salazar in the Main Article and will be going over a few more options below.
Chris Archer FD 9300 DK 10100
Opponent - KC (Duffy) Park - @TB
FD - 35.48 DK - 19.04
Chris Archer sure struggled in the first half of the season, but he has looked like his old self in his last five starts. He owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a whopping 29.8 K% during that span. He's been as dominant as ever and going up against a Royals' offense that is ice-cold; sets him up nicely.
In the last month of baseball, the Royals have been struggling. They are dead last in wOBA, ISO and wRC+. Their offense has been completely dead and I'll go ahead and play Chris Archer in tournaments. His upside is through the roof!
Marcus Stroman FD 7400 DK 8200
Opponent - HOU (Fister) Park - @HOU
FD - 32.14 DK - 16.52
Yes, Marcus Stroman owns a 4.92 ERA, but lets not focus on that. Instead, lets focus on his peripherals and matchup.
To start off, Stroman has been a much better pitcher than his ERA suggests. On the year, he owns a 3.55 xFIP along with a 3.69 SIERA. Pitching at the Rogers Centre and AL east has not done him much justice, but the good news is that he will be taking his talents to Minute Maid Park.
Stroman will be going up against the Astros, which gives him some nice upside. I know he owns a K% under 20 this season, but going up against a team that strikeouts a ton (23.9 % against righties), will certainly help him out. The Astros are in the middle of the pack when it comes hitting right-handed pitchers, but Stroman is a solid pitcher and has a reasonable price across the industry tonight. Don't forget, he's got that powerful Blue Jays' lineup backing him up!
CC Sabathia FD 6800 DK 7600
Opponent - NYM (Verrett) Park - @NYM
FD - 29.6 DK - 14.92
This isn't a mistake! I don't think you're crazy if you're considering playing C.C. Sabathia tonight. While I won't roll out the whole bank for him, I will use him in a few lineups and cross my fingers.
He has been solid this season posting a 3.95 ERA and opponents own a .248 AVG against him. He's not the Sabathia he once was in his prime, but he's been solid this year, so no need to doubt yourself. Not only has he been solid, but he also draws a favorable matchup going up against the Mets.
On the year, the Mets own a .313 wOBA (23rd in MLB) and 22.5 K% (11th in MLB) against southpaws. They hit righties much better as opposed to lefties, so go ahead and roll the dice if you have that gut feeling. The best part of this matchup is the fact that he will be pitching at Citi Field rather than Yankee Stadium.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.
