Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Houston Astros vs. Mike Pelfrey (Tigers)
Park - Comerica Park
The Astros have the highest implied run total of any of the 1 o'clock games, and for good reason. They're facing one of the worst pitchers on the slate, nay, the league, and have plenty of guys who can barrel up a baseball. Just how bad is Mike Pelfrey? His 3.92 K/9 is the very lowest among qualified pitchers in the majors, and his 5.15 xFIP is the 3rd worst. Pelfrey is the very definition of a batting practice pitcher, and the Astros' top heavy lineup is poised to strike here. They'll likely be fairly chalky for the early slate, but whoever doesn't play them just contributes to your upside.
The usual suspects are all in play here, but strongly consider splashing a high upside low ownership guy like Preston Tucker or the better known Colby Rasmus if you want some exposure to lower ownership big power guys.
Texas Rangers vs. Dillon Gee (Royals)
Park - Globe Life Park
One of the best hitters' parks in the majors, and the team that has scored the 5th most runs this season - it's always a good start. They've put those numbers against roughly league average competition, and today they'll face a guy who's basically only outclassed by Mike Pelfrey in his ineptitude. Dillon Gee posted an xFIP under 4 exactly once in his career, in 2012. His 4.66 xFIP this season is downright abysmal, and made even worse by the fact that 14 of his appearances have come out of the bullpen, where he is at a much greater advantage than your average starter. Gee is a dream match-up for anyone, and the Rangers are awesome.
Nomar Mazara and Jurickson Profar are still criminally under-priced, and Odor, Beltre, and Moreland make a fine high upside compliment to the cheap guys. Killer stack here. People will be all over the cheap guys again, but going deeper here is the way to tap into the big time upside.
The Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Patrick Corbin
Park - Dodger Stadium
With two very plain stacks atop the stack heap today, the Dodgers make for a fine way to get some high upside separation. Corbin's a falling star, unfortunately. His walks have nearly doubled since last year, and his K/9 is at an all time low. He's still got enough of a reputation that people won't pile on to stack against him, which is obviously great for our purposes.
The tricky part here is finding Dodgers that are a good fit to stack against Corbin. They've got mostly a pile of left handed hitters that are better in positive platoon situations, and Justin Turner, who's a dramatic reverse platoon split guy. But all is not lost! The Dodgers change their lineup around significantly with a southpaw on the mound. Howie Kendrick will likely slide into the lead-off spot - and at bargain basement prices he'll be a fantastic play in any format. Scott Van Slyke slid into the clean-up spot as well, and his .858 career OPS against LHP represents a fine bargain. I'd play both of them (assuming they maintain their lineup spots) and throw in the high upside guys that find a home nearby in the lineup, likely Corey Seager and Justin Turner.

Astros stack is just to obvious and tempting to pass up. I agree about adding in a Rasmus , Bergman, Tyler White or maybe even Castro if you just can't stomach paying that ridiculous price for Gattis On Draftkings. Rangers stack is solid and will allow you to add in a solid starting pitcher.
Kluber looks nice, will probably be like 20% owned and for good reason . I think Blake Snell is also a solid choice at home vs Yanks. He had a solid debut vs them and has shown he can strike out hitters at a pretty solid clip. Also has only given up 1 home run in 44 mlb innings and that includes pitching at Fenway and Coors. Tampa also has great numbers vs Pineda so I'm assuming he will have an above average chance of getting the W which makes him a very attractive most likely under 10% or lower owned option on all sites.
I've been getting solid starting pitching all week ( sucks Verlander was left in an inning to long yesterday but still ended with 66 on Fd so I'm not complaining, assuming Tigers figured the bullpen will be heavily taxed today with Pellfrey pitching and wanted to squeeze every inch of life they could out of Verlander).
I have however had a little bit of hitters block. Last night my Pirate and Dodger options didn't work out to well so not trying to dig to deep into hitting today just going with some no brainers. Good luck gents
Solid analysis, Dan! I'm on board with all of it.
GREAT WORK! MY ISSUE IS ALWAYS OUTFIELDER IT'S 3 ON FD I USUALLY HIT ON 2 BUT THE 3RD IS A KILLER
